One of our regular trainers to catch up with is Darryl Hansen and he has been under siege for a couple of weeks now regarding a ban and large fine he received. All I will say at this time is that Darryl has always been good to our site and I feel we should all give him a chance to fight the charges as he is adamant this is not his doing.
He has been training winners everywhere and again in the midweek races we seen Achievements step out and beat a very handy field at Eagle Farm to stamp himself as a serious horse. Hansen has done a great job with the horse and brought him through the grades, all the time teaching the horse to be a winner. Darryl feels the 1500m may well have been a little too far for the horse and thinks 1350m with a bit of tempo may be the best distance for Achievements. He is also still deciding if the horse will have one more run or go for a spell, but is confident it will come back a far better horse.
Darryl also has two good each way chances at Doomben Saturday in Hussonator and Denwood.
Hussonator has strung a heap of wins together and has found another suitable race. “My only query was a month between runs and if she’d had enough, but I trialled her up, she had a blow and has pulled up good so hopefully she’ll race great.” Hansen said.
Denwood led last start which is not really his go and Darryl feels if the horse can take a sit from a nice draw that it can be very competitive. “He’s not a frontrunner, he’s a better chaser but it just turned out that way last start. Hopefully he is starting to pick up the racing caper. With the nice draw and some cover he will be very hard to beat.” Hansen stated.
Both of the Hansen runners looked well placed in their races and I would be surprised if both were not highly competitive in their respective races.
**UPDATE 4pm Thursday. I forgot to post that we have a BLACKBOOKER running at Ipswich Friday, it will be very short but should be winning.
