Aquanita happy with Green Birdie

We catch up with a few of our Melbourne favourites from time to time and one of them is the great team at Aquanita. Sam Doran is the right hand man for Tony Vasil and helps out with all aspects of keeping the Aquanita team punching out winners!

Tony and Sam have an interesting runner in Green Birdie in the Bletchingly. Most punters will know that the horse does have a win over Rocket Man to his name in a Kris Flyer Sprint a few years back. There is no hiding the fact he is getting on in age, but he does still have a bit to offer before the curtains come down on a great career. “He has come on well since the first up run and there will be natural improvement into his 2nd up run. 1200m does look a better trip as the 1100m may have been a bit sharp first up, but this does look a tougher race than that also.” Doran said.

The Vasil stable also has The Wingman in on Saturday and Sam feels he can run a decent race at odds. The 1400m fresh is a good trip for him and he can be competitive at big odds.

The stable star at the moment is Elite Elle so I had to ask what her progress was. “She came back to the stable last Thursday after two weeks at Peter Morgan’s. We will probably look at the early three year old sprint races like the Quizette stakes in late August and then we will take it race to race from there.” Doran said.

The Aquanita team are always great with their time and area site favourite for us. I will continue to catch up with Sam as often as possible so remember to check in for their latest on the site.
