Are tracks chopping out more?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Just had an email from one of the champion followers of the site is regards to tracks around Australia and why so many of them now we have horses in the middle of the track? Not too long ago 3rd the fence was the gun run and where you wanted to be on any track in Australia, now it seems to nearly be a ‘death seat’ on so many tracks and you have to get off the fence as quick as possible.

Question mark

I have to admit there is something in that. Yes most tracks with rain will chop out a bit that is too be expected but EF, Randwick, Flemington and many other tracks even on days where the track is Good-Dead range you can bet more times than not they get off the fence.

Are tracks getting overused? Why is that the case? I have no idea but it does seem to be happening more and more.

Personally when the tracks are dry and in the Good 3-4 range I like betting at Caulfield and Doomben because you are favoured on speed being able to run time on the tight turns, good gates are favoured to find those positions and you really know how the track will race if it is in that range which allows you to map a race and straight away you can put a line through half the field. It’s not great for some owners who have backmarkers etc but it is great for punters to be able narrow down potential winners.

If you are on social media I will post this up and give us your theory on why they are getting off the fence more these days if you agree?

And let us know what are your favourite tracks to have a punt on?
