 BRISBANE

Doomben Race 1 No.2-PIZONE $2

Not one to back short priced favs but he looks the winner. Have been waiting for him to step out again and have had to wait because of the washed out meetings etc. He should be able to lead and if he finds the front I can’t see anything running over him. I’d be wanting $2+on the day to bet here.

Doomben Race 2 No.8-ULTIMATE RING $5

Not a bad maiden race this but feel this bloke has come back a better horse this time in work. Was a touch weak last prep but both runs back he has savaged the line and is now looking for the mile. From a good gate you’d want Byrne to land in front of 4-5 in the running and will just need a bit of luck to get off the rail on the corner, if he does he will be the strongest late. Lloyd jumps on BIG BUDS and he might be the hardest to beat with the old master jumping on board.

Doomben Race 3 No.6- MOSS CHEVAL $7 + $2.40 e/w

Another handy maiden race and expecting RATIONALE, GUANABA GIRL, MINGALAH and even other to all go on and break maiden status but think MOSS CHEVAL can be winning here. Has the bad gate but this is a good starting point with a long run to the first corner and Byrne can take his time to find the front or land first four settling. He was used up early last start when driven from the gates and still had a good kick late. He’s no star but looks a better horse than last prep. GUANABA GIRL might be suited out to this trip and with some speed on so can be hardest to beat.

Doomben Race 8 No’s 2-IMPASSE $5    ++    10-LOVE AND ROCK IT $4.60

If the track is favouring those on speed i’d lean to IMPASSE for the Waller camp, he was good winning a better race than this at the SC and he can box seat from the good gate. He will be in front at the 100m and be the one they have to run down. LOVE AND ROCK IT will get out of his ground but will be strongest late so if swoopers have been winning he might be the way to finish the day. At this stage I feel track likely to play to the front so slight lean IMPASSE but will be keeping and eye on how the tracks racing.

MELBOURNE

Flemington Race 3 No.10-FIFTY STARS $2.40

The gate looks bad but there is speed drawn around him, he can be positive and find a spot before he lets those outside push on for him to find the perfect spot. He should appreciate the bigger track and Allen can wait as long as possible before he pushes the button and if he is as good as the stable think he is then he should be winning this. HAUNTED is a nice horse on the way up who can run well and expecting SUNCRAZE to be very strong late too for trifecta’s.

Flemington Race 4 No.11-AZURO $6.50 e/w

Looks a genuine stayer and has worked into the prep nicely. Bit of timing about him, his last run has been his best and the 2800m looks ideal now. If there is an issue it could be the gate but Ben Allen is in good form and can try and find the right horse to follow before the corner to negate that. ILWENDO $26 might be worth some thoughts to add value in trifecta’s.

Flemington Race 5 No.7- FINE DANE $5

Looks a good one in the making and been exceptional in his first prep. On debut he bolted in, next start he went to town and run very well to place behind the star Written By. Last start he was a good thing beaten when held up and flying to be beaten a nose by BEAUTY who has subsequently won a Listed race at the valley. Looks to get a smother behind the leaders and can be the strongest late. QLD horse SINGULAR SENSATION can run a race here at $17 also. ROOSEVELDT bolted in on a heavy track two back if we happen to get that much rain but it shouldn’t get to that.

Flemington Race 6 No’s.12- MIRETTE $6  ++  17-NOTATION $7

Really nice filly on the way up is MIRETTE. Has continued on the upward spiral each run and looks to have a big future. Broke maiden status two back winning by 4.5L and the time was only around 3L off the handy BM70 race later in the day. She then went from a maiden win to G1 in the Thousand Guineas, was three wide on speed and only beaten 2.2L. Awkward gate but hoping they go back and just find the back of the right horse to take her into the race. NOTATION has only had the two starts but has been dominant in both. Ryan Moore rides and she might be able to get it cheap up front from a good gate and might prove hard to catch. Slight lean to MIRETTE but will be making NOTATION a winning result also.

Best e/w

Flemington Race 8 No.14- TAKE IT INTERN $10 + $3.20

Has only had the two runs in Australia for Weir, the first was over the unsuitable 1400m trip but still ran the fastest last 200m of the race to get within 0.7L of Cliffs Edge. Last start went to a BM74 over 1700m and after getting the gun run he blew them away running the fastest 400-200 and 200-home splits of the race. From gate 14 they are likely to grab the shoulder of ZAHSPEED who will roll forward to lead and they are every chance of landing in the first 4-5 settling, hopefully one off the fence which would make him very hard to beat at a good price. STAMPEDE a superior wet track horse if the rain does come.

Flemington Race 9 No’s. 10-MAN OF HIS WORD $23   ++  14-GALAXY RAIDER $26

Both seem really good odds but admit both are get back horses and theses straight races can get very messy if they are all coming down the outside fence. Loved the trial of MAN OF HIS WORD before he went to Caulfield and had no luck at all late, he was as good as Trekking and Brave Song in that race but is 4-5x their price here. GALAXY RAIDER is probably more a 1400m horse but with a decent tempo he can reel off exceptional late sectionals and the big open spaces suit. If they get some luck in running they can run far better than their odds suggest.
