BARBIE’S SISTER- Many won’t forgive her beaten at $1.80 but that’s a risk itself on debut, I don’t care what horse it is. She was up on a speed that was too hot and still good after he line. Will be better for it and better suited around Doomben probably.
RISING PACIFIC– Can only imagine what Tony thought of this ride. They were walking and Thornton still decided to sit a clear last. The race was over after 300m and he was no hope. Can bounce back.
ENCODER- It’s not pick on Thornton day (think he’s a great jock) but just 15L off the leader mid race and had to be Winx to win. Best L400m and 200m of the race and still couldn’t land in the money.
DEER TRAIL- Have always liked this horse and feel there is upside there. Does like Doomben and likes the edge out of the track, so either or both could help.
KNIGHT’S CHOICE– I’d be asking to reconsider the $2.3 million that was reported to be on the table for this bloke. In saying that, he wants 2000m now and he’s better than avg. Should be winning races over a trip but personally I’d have driven him to the plane if that offer was real. This was not much of a race and still couldn’t beat them. Happy to go again at 2000m and then i’ll let him go.
