Racehorse Syndication, Breeding and Beers – Plenty happening at BRT

There has been plenty going on at BRT with our yearlings progressing well, the excitement in the air around our mares foaling down and an exciting new package really capturing the imagination of owners. Read about it all below.

Yearlings

Our yearlings have all now been in the stable environment with good reports about the entire group. If I had to rank them in order taking into account Breaking – In reports, Pre – training reports and their actual time in the city stable environment it would be a very hard task to separate them.

All at one of the stages has been a standout and with them changing in physique, manners and confirmation daily it would be foolish to rank them in order. What I will do however is break down the stages they have been through and give you the ones that have done the best at each stage.

Breeding

The foaling down season is only around the corner and for us again it is exciting and nervous times. As always you just hope that you get a healthy foal and mum pulls up well too. We have 6 mares in foal to Spirit to Boom so we have put a lot of eggs in the 1 basket.

Our decision to send that many mares to him is indeed risky and our fortunes with these foals in the sales ring 18 months away will start to be determined by his progeny this year when his 2-year-olds hit the tracks.

The universal thought around his progeny is they will go early. Tony Gollan has 6 in his stable and he is happy with everyone of them. The early talk is that the mare we bred with last breeding season in conjunction with Golden Gully Farms Limealicious has the most promising yearling on the ground. We hope that is proven to be correct as we have the full brother on the ground as well as Limealicious again being in foal to Spirit.

Syndications

We are slowly but surely getting shares sold in our yearlings with the recently released Boom Babes package being our best seller. It is a great deal so we fully understand why it has proven to be popular.

The interest in our yearlings has definitely increased but there are still shares available in all of our yearlings. With the likes of Star Witness and Hinchinbrook still high up In the leading sires list we are confident we will get the entire shares sold before they head to the track.

The most popular yearlings so far have proved to be the Star Witness – Casual Friday Filly who will hold good residual if she can win a race, Hinchinbrook – Mezmar filly who is a dead set bargain at the price for a stallion who is going great guns and our Spirit of Boom – Boomalicious filly who continues to tick all the boxes.

We will look to start naming these yearlings in the next month as they get closer to hitting the track.

Social Club

Whilst the Boom Babes package has proven a hit our social club punting has proven to be a miss. We have started off every slow with only 1 of the 7 weeks so far proving to be profitable. We were extremely unlucky last weekend with our quaddie which would have seen us hit the front in our race with Ladbrokes.

We got to the last leg and the 3 selections we had looked the only winners at the 200m. In the end though we got beaten on the post and ours ran 2,3,4. It is about more than just punting however and our next social day is going to be a game of lawn bowls with the mandatory 6 oz at every end before heading in for a few beers and a punt.

Eagle Farm Stables

A lot has been said about the Eagle Farm track and the ridiculous situation that has unfolded. The same cannot be said about the stabling and inner part of the track which is truly world class.

They have done a great job on the inner track and plaudits must be given to the Club for what is now a great environment for the thoroughbred. You can see it in the horse how much more relaxed they are now they have a  first class facility. Well done to all.

Open Day

We have set the 10th September for our open day in conjunction with Gollan Racing. The day will include a full tour of the Gollan Racing facilities, 2-year-old parade of Boom Racing Thoroughbreds as well as Tony parading some of his stable stars.

Catering will be provided on the day which will commence at 9am and conclude at 11am. As I have said above the Stabling facility at Eagle Farm is now world class and it just promotes excitement being around the horses in such a quality facility.
