Yearling’s Fly down the Eagle Farm Straight

The time came and we could not have been happier, if you didn’t know any better you would have thought it was 3 horses doing their last fast work before their weekend race. Our 3 fillies all done their first fast track gallop and to say we were encouraged, excited and extremely positive would be a major understatement.

Despite showing off strong Toowoomba winter coats the 3 yearlings done very well in their first serious hit out. When we arrived we thought we would see them trot around but instead we seen 3 fillies thundering down the Eagle Farm straight.

It is very early days and there are plenty people who will tell you they are doing well but we have had such a cross section of people speak positively about our yearlings. These included guys like Daryl Gollan who is the guru in Queensland of 2 year old racing.

He regularly in his training days matched the nations best trainers when it came to producing a 2 year old and to do that your eye is the most important thing.

A brief summary of this morning’s action:

Hinchinbrook – Mezmar Filly

She worked up on the bit and was doing things under her own steam, the track rider then asked her to go and he was very surprised with the turn of foot she showed having not ridden her previously. We said it was no surprise to us as Lindsay Hatch had signalled her out as our best thus far and that she is very likely to go early.

The track rider who had previously ridden our Spirit of Boom filly said she was more intent on trying to kick the other horses when she worked previously. The best one’s have attitude and she definitely has that.

“She just went Zoom” : The words of track rider post gallop

Spirit of Boom – Moroccan Dancer Filly

Another who took the eye of Lindsay Hatch as well as our Breaker Jake Capewell. She is a very good mover and they really like her. For Jake he was the pick out of the yearlings he broke in for us.

Alana Fancourt rode this girl and was happy with her saying as above she moves well and held her own with the other 2 fillies. She is a good little type who will also look to go early if she remains sound.

“Travelled well throughout the gallop staying with the other 2”: Alana Fancourt

Star Witness – Casual Friday

I am a little biased when I come to this girl as I feel she has the right breeding and hasn’t been pushed as I have stated before. Lindsay Hatch was fond of her whilst having the other 2 slight ahead of her at the pre – training phase. The first thing with her we noticed was the improvement she has made since she started the pre- training physically.

She has come along leaps and bounds with her physical presence and whilst as mentioned above they all had their Toowoomba winter coats on you could just envisage her when she sheds the winter coat. She will be some type of horse, a striking chestnut with her blonde mane dappled up, is there anything more pleasing to the eye than that.

On to todays gallop and I guess her effort was best summed up by Alana Fancourt who rode the Spirit of Boom filly. Her comments where the Star Witness will be the first to go early based on how she travelled in the gallop.

She said they all did it under their own steam but this girl done it with the least effort. Whilst the jury for us is still out in terms of her being super early due to the fact she still might need more time to grow, what it does tell us is she has good ability.

In second gear” : Alana Fancourt post gallop although riding another of our yearlings. Improved dramatically physically since this pic.

SWF

As I mentioned above we were stoked with how they went and as we have said previously we feel we have bought extremely well in our price range. The hottest stallions in our price range that are proven are Hinchinbrook and Star Witness, a look at the stallions sires tables for 3rd season crop as well as 3-year-old crop tells you that.

They from way fewer numbers are above the likes of Fastnet Rock and More than Ready and have the hottest sire in the country I am Invincible just above them with around the same number of runners.

These fillies now head to the paddock on Sunday for a short spell before heading back to the pre-trainers and then down to Eagle Farm to get them as close to racing as there bodies allow them.

It is truly exciting times and for those tossing up on getting in on a horse or waiting this is the time you shouldn’t be missing. To see their progression and watch them evolve is thoroughly enthralling, something that shouldn’t be missed. Click on the link below for a video package of todays events.
