Brad Herne takes strong team to Grafton

With the great Grafton carnival upon us I thought it is worth trying to find a trainer who can take out a few races with a strong team heading south. Brad Herne fits the bill and I caught up with him to find out his thoughts on his runners over the two days.

IN THE BACK ROW– “She is 1st up and has had a trial to tune her up. She will get a nice run from the alley, just the last 100m will be the question but she will be right in it.”

LOSE IT– “He is probably a group horse in the making. It is a big test for him tomorrow but we are going down confident he will run well.”

QUEEN COMANDER– “ It’s her 1st run for me, she has had a soft trial. Never wone 1st up or over 1200m. She will be fresh and was a last start Newcastle winner so we are hoping she may be too good for them?”

FLASH THE ROCK– “He’s come back from a knee operation and probably a bit out of form. His first two runs were ok but he tapered off a bit so we have freshened him back up and that may be his go.”

TYCOON TATTOO– “First run for me, he’s a speed horse who will jump and lead. If he can hang on the last 100m he will be hard to beat. He comes in really well at the weights.”

Brad is a boy from the Northern Rivers and nothing would be more enjoyable than to head home and win a few races at the biggest carnival around the area. He’s a good bloke to catch up with and he has also done a great job placing his horses at Grafton. He has spent time under Liam Birchley, Ron Quinton and Tim Martin but Herne is well on his way to making a name for himself.

Good luck to Brad and the team, I’m sure they will head home with a bit of prizemoney.
