**I will get the preview up, but personally I think Brisbane may be worth swerving if it gets to a heavy track. There will also be a heap of scratchings, so Saturday morning may change things.

Race 5: Last start was the first time in a long time that BIANCA JEWEL had a good gate and got a decent run in transit. Unfortunately she has a horror gate again and if the rain comes it dampens her chances again. BOYS ON TOUR takes on the older horses and has his work cut out for him, but if the rain comes he is a chance. THEY WON’T LAST goes well 1st up, loves the wet and has Colless on top so must be respected. Gee if it happens to be dry KING OF THE CONGO can win. He gets in well after the claim for clever apprentice Anthony Allen, he just need it dry. PRIMED probably in the same boat, he always runs well and if dry he can run well at good odds. I’m forgiving ROSAGAZE $7who had a horrid run 1st up and has had a few weeks off. She’s really good on her day and from the good gate I think she’ll sit closer and round them up. She is unbeaten 2nd up and likes the track and trip. SHEZAHOTSHOT and MONEYSAVER are swimmers and nice runs wouldn’t surprise if conditions suit. TAFEER and PLAYACTION can also haves cases made for them in a really open race, and a surprise first leg of the quaddie may be on the cards.

On Top: 10- ROSAGAZE

Hardest To Beat: 8-PRIMED, 12-MONEYSAVER, 6-THEY WON’T LAST, 15-TAFEER

Race 6: VIKING HERO $4.60 + $1.90 gets in well here, he is in great form, will handle any conditions and I think he will be very hard to beat. Comes off a great 2nd to the classy Folding Gear in melb. I think ZA MAGIC gets a pretty good time of it up front here and can be very hard to run down if he gives the usual kick. This is a slight step in grade, but he swims and drops 5kg from his latest win. SHAMARDASHING is hard to catch, but has won 2 of 3 on heavy and did roll ZA MAGIC last start. That horse does meet him 2.5kg better off however. STREETS AWAY hasn’t missed a place on heavy and may just want one more run to be at his top, but hard to knock Bailey and Colless, they know what they are doing. IRONSTEIN, GALLIZANI, WARRIOR WITHIN, MARKED and CONTRACT CATERER are all capable but I’d find it hard for them on the likely wet track.

On Top: 2-VIKING HERO

Hardest To Beat: 6-ZA MAGIC, 5-SHAMARDASHING,

Race 7: Interesting 3 year old race. TRUMP is on top and I thought he was a great bet on a decent track. As I said, if it’s raining during the meeting I would stay clear as wet tracks become bogs. I have put him on top after two great runs back he is ready to win. Rob has always had a big opinion of this horse and McMahon can get into a nice position throughout the run. BRAMBLES arrives for Moody and he ran 4th beaten 3 ½ by the very promising Fat Al in the Carbine Club G3 a fortnight ago. That is more than enough to measure up here. PRETTY PINS is one of the most exciting  fillies in Brisbane and gets through any rain affected track fine. The query is does she need one more run as she’s on the Oaks path? I’d suggest the rain brings her right into it. QUINTESSENTIAL ran 3rd in the NZ Oaks and has had 6 weeks off into this. She will still be competitive at this level over 1600m fresh. JACK’S BACK has run really well his last 3 in town and the 1600m may suit. Byrne stays on and at $17 he can add value to trifecta’s etc. They are what I see as the main chances, but for exotic players, OUTBACK GRANDE, VACALLO, ARCTIC and ROCKET BOOTS can all run fair races and make it into the money somewhere if the favours go their way.

On Top: 3-TRUMP

Next Best: 14-PRETTY PINS, 5-BRAMBLES, 10-JACK’S BACK

Race 8: This looked a match race on a good track between ROCKER and EXCELLANTES. I thought I had a sneaky one that could roll them in TOP DROP, but there is nothing sneaky about it. I can tell you it’s the early market mover on Tatts from $8.25 into $4.20! He is a nice horse who has competed well in some pretty good races. I had him on top as he would be the value, but looks as though that’s not the case. ROCKER is the one to beat. He had the blinkers on 1st up and attacked the line. He may now live up to the hype surrounding him. EXCELLANTES is all quality but his record drops away when it gets wet. Byrne gets gate 2 and I’m sure goes forward, he’s still a chance at this grade. AQUATORIAL is the other horse I give a winning hope too. I don’t like horses 1st up on wet tracks, but he is 3 from 3 first up and he always puts in. Hard to make a case for others but HOUR OF PERIL $35 and MY QUILTER $17 are probably the best roughies for those chasing longshots.

On Top: 11-TOP DROP

Hardest To Beat: 6-ROCKER, 8-AQUATORIAL, 5-EXCELLANTES
