Brisbane ‘The Punt’ Preview

Print Friendly

I was really looking forward to racing on a dead track this weekend at Eagle Farm. We have had some rain Friday morning so we will have to wait and see what the track comes up. I have done the form on a dead, so fingers crossed that we can.

On the BLACKBOOKERS we better check out our stable this week:

All prices quoted are TattsBet prices at time of typing.

**We are just going to go over the Quaddie legs again, but I will put best bets up at the bottom of the page..

RACE 5: Great race to kick off. DURHAM TOWN (SCRATCHED) is a very good quality horse who has raced well in Group races in NZ including a G3 win last start. Include him. CARRY ME BLUEY will get back a touch, but nice and fresh he will sprint really well and I would not be surprised if he won. His 1st up record is 4 starts two wins and a second and his record at E-F is similar! METALLURGICAL comes off two runs in the best two sprints races in Australia, if not the world. He was beaten 5 lengths by Hay List and comes back to a listed race and carries the minimum weight. I think if the track is DEAD or better he should win at the $7 on offer is very good. If it got to slow I wouldn’t be as confident. They are my main hopes. FILLYDELPHIA is in for a great prep, she can win but I think she will want a touch further. LISTEN SON, MEET GEORGE and MR ARMSTRONG the best of the rest.

On Top: 7-METALLURGICAL ew (dead or better)

Next Best: 9-CARRY ME BLUEY,  4-FILLYDELPHIA

RACE 6: Even tempo here giving all a chance. CARIAD was very good last week and Tony Gollan told me through the week she has trained on well. I can’t see how she is still around $5.50. That looks good ew. FUNTANTES was the horse she ran down last start and FUNTANTES will be better for the run. She is very smart and a chance to turn the tables. DUAL CHAMBER was a revelation last prep and if she can reproduce that form she is a chance. She was unlucky 1st up last prep and just needs the speed on to figure. ST GERMAINE is the kiwi visitor coming back from 6 months off. Browne will suit her perfectly and she has the touch of ‘class’. One of the site fav’s RISK AVERSION can be forgiven as she stumbled when not ready in the gates last time. She has a bad gate and I’d rather her over 1400m, but class will take her a fair way.

On Top: 4-CARIAD

Next Best: 1-FUNTANTES, 5-ST GERMAINE, 6-RISK AVERSION

RACE 7: I think this is the race for HIDDEN JEWEL. I believe she missed a trial when the rain was around early in her prep and that may well have had her on the back foot first two runs in. The step to 1600m, back to EF and a decent gate mean I’m pretty keen. I thought she may have been better than the $3.20 on offer. She’s the one they have to beat! URBAN ROCKER comes up for Waller and is on the way up. These races are where good young horses emerge and I think it can be pretty good. There are two that I think can run well at decent odds for wider quaddies. EMPRESS ME (SCRATCHED)$7.50 had 5 weeks between runs and was very good last start lumping 58.5kg. She drops 2kg and more importantly gets a much better gate. She will be right amongst them here. ENDLESS SHADOW for Heathcote has just kept improving and running career bests each start. It was extremely unlucky last start and at $17 I think it may be the one over the odds. Outside of them, the Patinack pair- ANOTHER SUPERIOR and STRIP SHOW are due to turn it around after things haven’t panned out lately. FLYING JET just needs some luck from the gate to run well.

On Top: 6-HIDDEN JEWEL

Next Best:  10-URBAN ROCKER, 16-ENDLESS SHADOW

Race 8: GAROZZO leads from STREETS AWAY, KUMALI and I’d expect GINGA DUDE to be up on pace just behind them. GINGA DUDE is a genuine group horse and has had a couple of trials leading into this. 58kg is probably a really good weight for him so respect. TRIPLE HONOUR will get a great run behind them from gate 1 and I think Damian Browne may well be a great fit for this horse. The track rating will suit and I think he can run really well e/w up to the 1600m. SHUFFLE THE CASH is screaming to win a race and I’ve been waiting for him to get to 1600m. This race is made to order and he will go in quaddies at $15. I think STREETS AWAY for Colless can run a cheeky race up front, as I do also for GAROZZO but they take on a few pretty good ones in this.

*Good race to finish and a bit of value there with Shuffle The Cash and Triple Honour.

On Top: 2-TRIPLE HONOUR ew

Roughie: 4-SHUFFLE THE CASH

Others: 3-GINGA DUDE, 11-STREETS AWAY
