Brisbane weekend preview (Quad legs)

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

*I will have a bit of a hand around the joint the next week or so. That allows us to look at the BRISBANE Quadrella legs.

***All BLACKBOOKERS and TATTS info will be in the main ‘THE PUNT’ section later in the week.

Piney Melb Cup

Afraid to leave a few horses like HEZA JETSETTER and others out but I do have this down to three.

We were all over TAX EVADER last start only for the horse to play up in the barriers, get vetted and passed fit to run. He then put his head in another gate when they opened and our tickets were confetti! Have to be forgiving and he can win with a suck run from the inside gate.

LUCKY SOUND is simply a very good fresh horse and too afraid to leave him out. SINISTER PRINCE has always shown plenty and although Cape Kidnappers gave him a cold last start this bloke put his head out and can be hard to run down again.

On Top:  5- TAX EVADER

SAMMY JAIN, WHISKEY ALLROUND, ENQUARE and OCTANE FLYER all had very little between them last time out. SAMMY JAIN is in the best on weights out of that run but probably has the biggest question getting to the 1200m? Very hard to split them all.Matt Dunn Racing

SPLENDORA will have to give away a bit of a start but she is very handy and has to go in quads. Matt Dunn stable is as good as any in Australia at the moment.

QUADRELLA numbers:  1,3,4,6,8

Depending on LISTEN SON the speed should be ok. Any rain whatsoever and he will probably be scratched.

BELLTONE the best horse engaged but has huge weight and apprentice (good one) on board. Has a task. SIGNIFIED the stable mate is well placed here and this looks a good assignment. A pinch of luck from the gate and it could be the way to go Each-Way if prices allow.

MORNING CAPTAIN is simply so consistent you know he is going to be in the money. A couple of great runs this prep and the key is the drop in weight here. He will carry 4kg less than last week.

POOR JUDGE and VINTAGE MOSS must be respected and well worth thought for Quaddies.

On Top:  5- SIGNIFIED e/w

Very even race to finish off.

DIENEKES goes very well 2nd up and more than handy on his day. Handles all conditions and should roll forward.

POWERFULL JET always in these races up to his ears but does he run from the gate??

CAELLUM comes off a benchmark 85 race against far better horses. Last prep he ran 2nd at his second run back and a similar effort could see him salutes.

Not as sold on CRACCO (SCRATCHED)as a few others but even from gate 15 it’s hard to put a line through him and he goes in Quad.

SNIPPETS CAVIAR meets PIGGY BANK about 5kg better off and looked the main chance but gate 17 makes it extremely hard. Not a bad starting point here but will need a touch of luck.

BANCHORY LASS carries no weight and leads here, while MAJOR MIKE has the tough gate but has form that will line up ok.

Must respect SURFACE TENSION 1st up here. Has a bit of class on some of these and may sprint ok fresh.

*Very tough way to finish. I’m going with what I see as the best horse in the race and placed well.

On Top:  5- CAELLUM
