Brisbane Wrap Up from a good weekend

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

I really want to focus on Brisbane and Qld provincials if needed in the wrap ups but how can we start without mentioning BUFFERING! He won his 3rd straight Group 1 in W.A taking out the Winterbottom. There is no doubt a left-hand corner is not his strong point but again he was too good. At his absolute peak he wouldn’t have given them a chance, but was still too good. Have to mention SPIRIT OF BOOM who was terrific after a heavy check before the corner. It is so hard to pick yourself up after that and 4th would have been tough to swallow for connections.

WRAP UP:The Wrap Up

Race 1:

Just another reason to avoid 2 yr old races. It is hard enough betting in races with exposed form, why worry about betting when 80% of the field haven’t started and had easy trials etc? If you want to play a guessing game go buy Guess Who? And save some money…

Race 2:

Well I backed TRAJET Melbourne Cup day and he went like a busted, did I jump off? YEP! Best horse won and best ride –VOLKHERE was in the placings, but again, good luck following this form.

Race 3:

Not a lot to report. MISS LEIBERT deserved the win and was ridden a treat. FOR MIA fought well. SOME CALL HER WILD will win an easier race soon and DOLPHUS has the makings of a nice horse.

Race 4:

Could be a few to follow here.. First 6 over the line have wins in store. FLAMBOYER and PADRINO look like even further would play into their hands. KALANDULA has progressed a long way in a short time and obviously has a big future.

SHIRAZ ATTACK was simply outstanding. She gave weight to a few, was wide the entire trip and should have won.

RANACH MOOR and SISTER SOUSS can find easier assignments and simply win.

Race 5:

Hopefully a few followed us into ROCKY KING. When he finds form he usually holds it. $5-6 was a stupid price! How?? He nearly rolled Better Than Ready last start who was $2.20 in a Listed race later and this bloke pays nearly $6, the worlds gone mad!

SEEK AND FIND was very good off the long break. Not sure about LENNIES CHOICE, he is definitely not as good as the early talk about him was. Very handy but  no star.

Race 6:

I’ve gone from tipping CRACCO to saying ‘never again’. He is usually honest but may simply be a good midweek horse.

Other than the winner HORA SEXTA you can’t find a reason to follow many of these.

JACK’S BACK did a stack of work and can win one of these shortly, but in saying that he can usually find one better!

Race 7:

BETTER THAN READY had to lump 60.5kg and he still give them a beating. Does that mean he is super or this lot may not be that good?? Probably a bit of both. There was some nice horses engaged and I genuinely thought they should have beaten him, but simply not good enough.

No knock on OLLIE VOLLIE, but fair dinkum, he was beaten about a length and he is older than the 2-cent coin!! That has to speak for something?

BENNY’S BUTTONS was extremely good fresh, MORNING CAPTAIN as honest as ever.

Race 8:

Bit disappointed with STRADON. I expected him to go to another level but had every chance here. I want to see him one more time before I get too harsh as he did finish in the money but I thought he may have been a couple of lengths better. The winner LOVE ROCKS met him worse off at the weights and give them all a towelling.

THE WHITE HOPE will be better for the run and no doubt 1350m is more his go.

Couple I thought would go ok CASINO CARD and HI SON were ok. Both can be followed through their preps. HI SON looks as though 1600m will be his go and may take another run to top him off.
