We managed to catch up with Qld’s leading trainer Tony Gollan on Thursday to get an update on our 2-year-olds as they embark on their 2nd preparation. Whilst it is hard to separate them at this early stage Tony has mapped out short term plans for them all.
The Star Witness and Hinchinbrook are being targeted to get to the jump out/trial stage whilst the exciting Smart Missile colt will look to be turned out in an effort to let him develop into his body more. The Spirit of Boom filly has had a minor setback which will in time prove to be a blessing in disguise.

Smart Missile – Adio colt
He is one fine specimen and if we give him the time he needs the world could be his oyster.

Star Witness – Casual Friday filly
The best wrap for this girl comes from her work rider Gemma who also rides Tony’s Stakes placed Star Witness She’s Our Star. Her comments ” plenty of go in her and gives a great feel”. I love this filly.

Hinchinbrook – Mezmar filly
She continues to do well. I feel this is the one Tony thinks is most likely to go as an early 2-year-old.

Spirit of Boom – Moroccan Dancer filly
This girl had a minor setback during the week. She is still likely to be an early type but is back in the paddock for 4-6 weeks which will allow her time to strengthen.
