The corporate flavour of this year’s Ladies Day has intensified, with Cairns Amateurs Carnival kicking off with its strongest ever showing from local business and industry.
Cairns Amateurs Carnival President Ross Moller said Ladies Day on Friday 13 September has doubled its number of corporate marquees in the trackside Aviary with organisations like NAB increasing its hospitality two-fold along with a host of newcomers that include CA Architects, Simon George & Sons, Phillip Morris and PEXA.
“This is a new trend we are seeing in 2019 which is actually in reverse to previous years with Saturday attracting the larger share of corporate marquees.
“It is great but while the corporate entertaining is an all-time high, we still have room in our various corporate events for a first-class Carnival experience.
“For last minute racegoers, Friday is the pick with limited spots in the popular Yellowglen House, 1500 Carlton Club and Fishbowl still available,” Mr Moller said.
For those who love a flutter, Friday offers a comprehensive seven-race program, including the $40,000 Stella Artois Open Handicap that can be viewed on high from the comfort of the 1500 Carlton Club or trackside in the luxurious Fishbowl or spirited Yellowglen House.
The Ladies Day program concludes with the highly anticipated ANZ Cairns Amateurs Masquerade Ball, the region’s pinnacle social event. Proving racegoers appetite for the stunning waterfront venue and entertainment laden program and Ochre catering, the Ball, according to Mr Moller, is a complete sell out, the first in many years.
“This year’s Ladies Day program is showcasing our Carnival’s glamorous appeal while featuring an impressive schedule of racing fixtures, Fashions on the Field and tradition that includes the celebrated arrival of Governor Paul de Jersey.
“Ladies Day encapsulates the celebratory spirit that has become such a central part of Cairns Amateurs over the years,” he said.
