Cairns Amateurs Carnival President Ross Moller has announced one of the hottest couples in Australian sport, Brittney and James Tamou, as its 2019 Carnival Ambassadors.

The couple, who are currently at their top of their game both on and off the sporting field embody all the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, and along with their high-profile status and love of horse racing, are deemed the perfect Carnival Ambassadors.

Once a 400-metre hurdler and now one of the country’s leading Arbonne consultants, Brittney has managed to balance a busy career and personal life, which includes parenting four young boys while finding time to support professional football playing husband James, and the demands of his rigorous training and competition schedule as prop for the Penrith Panthers.

A former NQ Cowboys player (2009-2016) who was part of the 2015 NRL Premiership winning side, James is well known in the Far North and despite now being based in Sydney is admired and respected for his success as an Australian international and representative player for NSW State of Origin and New Zealand Maori rugby league teams.

Commenting on the couple’s new ambassador role, Brittney Tamou said they are delighted to kick off their involvement with an event they have both watched grow over the years.

“For more than 60 years this event has been the major racing and social networking event in Australia’s Far North so it is an absolute honour to be its 2019 ambassadors and I cannot wait to attend.

“We will use this opportunity to leverage opportunities and exposure through out networks to promote Cairns, the region and the fun, fashion and racing action of what is destined to be a thrilling Cairns Amateurs Carnival,” Ms Tamou said.

In a warm-up to next month’s Carnival the couple are enjoying a relaxing weekend in Cairns, in the midst of a busy NRL season – getting to know the local sights and sparkling attractions that underpin the 61st Carnival branding, Racing on the Great Barrier Reef.   Visits to CaPTA Group’s Cairns Zoom and the rainforest dome wildlife park, a half day trip to Fitzroy Island with Experience Co and dinner at Ochre Restaurant are all on the menu for the Tamou family this weekend.

The couple and their youngest child Boston will also enjoy accommodation over the weekend at Riley, a Crystalbrook Collection Resort, the new and exclusive accommodation partner of this year’s Cairns Amateurs Carnival.

In partnership with TEQ, Cairns Amateurs Carnival will work with this year’s Ambassadors to spread the good word about visiting Cairns and the Tropical North in springtime and what better time than the fun, fashion and racing of the region’s pinnacle social event.
