Caulfield Cup 2020

Well I’m always surprised when people say they can’t wait for the Everest and don’t mention the Caulfield Cup. A full field. A handicapped staying race is always a great betting affair. This year is no different.

I’ve done this allowing for a few showers and in between a Good4-Soft6. (My top two would like a soft 5-6 or anything worse)

So many chances and a good ride may be the difference.

The horse I feel maps beautifully is MASTER OF WINE and I’ve liked every bit of his prep. No doubt the Hawkes have timed it for him to be peaking into this. He was good through the line in the Turnbull (3rd best L200m). He drops 3kg and meets most of them better off at the weights. Gets a gun run and Williams to ride and confident he is in the finish.

VERRY ELLEEGANT is airborne. The key to her is a shower or two. Anything to allow her to get her toe into the ground and look out! She may even find the back of MASTER OF WINE and get a tow into the race. She has had the two starts over 2400m and 2x wins. Wouldn’t want anymore weight but she’s the one they all have to beat.

ANTHONY VAN DYKE was the one I wanted to be with early but now needs an 11/10 from Bowman from the outside gate. He is a very classy animal so I don’t want to drop off too quickly.

FINCHE is going well and very consistent, should go in exotics. He just doesn’t win often. PRINCE OF ARRAN has the sticky gate but should roll forward and if he gets a dry track seems over the odds at the $26.

Nothing wrong with the DALASAN and TOFFEE TONGUE form either. The Turnbull form always stacks up and both were very good there. Not a heck of a lot between them and both get nice weight drops off the last run

*A heap of others who can win so I wouldn’t be worried if I haven’t mentioned the one you like. Good luck with whatever you back.

*Depending on what the surface ends up I’ll either back MASTER OF WINE each/way or have a Win bet MASTER OF WINE and VERRY ELLEEGANT if we get a bit of rain.
