One of Queensland’s up and coming stables is that of David Kelly at the Gold Coast. I have always been a fan but have kept a close on the team lately and David is doing a super job. I caught up with David to run over a few horses in form and a couple I rate who are on the way up.
We started with HI SON who has strung a couple together in town. “He is going to have a couple of weeks off now and then I will wind him back up for the Grafton Cup which will be his main aim. He has always indicated he would stay all day, we have just had a few niggling problems but this is the first prep everything has gone right and I have been able to get him up to that journey.” Kelly said.
Another horse on the way up (and in the Brissyraces blackbook) is FINAL CRESCENDO. “He will go around at the Gold Coast again this Saturday and then two weeks later there is a No Metrop Win race up in Brisbane. He has taken a bit of time and was ‘green’ but has started going in the right direction.”
The stable star is probably FLIGHT KING but there is a chance Kelly may lose the horse to Hong Kong in the next couple of days. Unfortunate for the coast trainer but it does show he can get them up and going for his owners and get these offers.
Two horses I feel are genuine town horses on the way up are ZIZZELDO and SNAPCRACKLE so I had to ask David about them.
“Snapcrackle will have a trial here two weeks from today. She jumped out this morning and went really good. She will have a trial and then there is a 1400m race at the Gold Coast, and we will head to the staying races for fillies over the carnival. ZIZZELDO jumped out this morning and will also trial in two weeks and we will pick out a 1000m race for 3 year olds somewhere.” Kelly said.
*This is defiantly a stable going places and as I mentioned for a small team David knocks out plenty of winners and looks to have a heap that will measure up in town over the next few months.
