The Black Superman – Doomben R2 No.5 (1010m): back to the 1000m but who are we to question Herne!

General Exhibit – Doomben R3 No.6 (1200m): Top Chance

Emerald Duke – Doomben R5 No.2 (2000m): Good horse and the 2000m is interesting.

Catalonia – Doomben R5 No.12 (2000m): Really wanted EF, can still go close.

Love Rocks – Doomben R8 No.13 (1350m): 1350m? Still like his chances!

Walhaan – Doomben R9 No.14 (1600m): Underrated, my best e/w at $8

 Matt Dunn Racing

Race 1:

?? These are confusing. A few different formlines and a few first starters. Happy to watch on and learn about them.

Race 2:

Real trap race in my mind. These races are usually run 1000 miles an hour, however this seems a little more reserved.

1,2,6 the main speedsters. Leaning towards the top 2 although LENNIES CHOICE has had every chance and not delivered, also has the big weight. That leaves SEEKING MORE who went ok 1st up and has trilled well again since. THE BLACK SUPERMAN sits off the pace and will flash late. This a step in grade but he can run well again while he is in this form.

I have always had a lot of time for THE CONSPIRATOR, can mix form but worth some thought.

On Top:  2- SEEKING MORE   (but not a great race)

Race 3:

ROCKET TO GLORY leads and EXCELLANTES would like to find the spot outside leader I’d suspect. I am sure there will be a flood of money for GENERAL EXHIBIT. I have the big chestnut on top but not willing to take silly odds if that eventuates. He should have won last start and sometimes people get carried away next start after that happens.

EXCELLANTES still the hardest to beat after the claim and has won a trial since last run.

ROCKET TO GLORY can also stick around for a while in the straight.

Hardest To Beat : 1- EXCELLANTESpineapple

Race 4:

I think you have to look for some type of value and there is plenty here with about five horses around the $6 mark.

Going with ZIGGIES DANCE but do admit she does not get in well at the weights! Goes up 3kg for running 4th in a class4… Not ideal, however she has a bit of upside and the Zizou breed seem to mature with a bit of time. Not going overboard but she should run well.

IN A STORM always is thereabouts without winning many. JOPA was only beaten 2L by The White Hope so I’d expect it to start fav here. ATLANTIS GEM, SEZWHO and LOVE SHUTTLE all leading chances but have to overcome gates 12,14 and 11.

*Simply for an interest will have something small on ZIGGIE

Race 5:

How good is EMERALD DUKE? Was he flattered by a wet track? Is is he a star on the rise? Does he run out a strong 2000m at first attempt the trip? All will be answered here. The biggest hurdle for me is the pace of the race, no leaders and where does he land from the wide gate.. Don’t get me wrong he can blow them away again, I just won’t be taking short odds.

At around the $2 quote I’d rather consider a First 4 with him to win and work around numbers 1,4,5,8,11,12,13,14

First 4:   win 2 …… and play around how you like with 1,4,5,8,11,12,13,14

Race 6:

Although their racing patterns worry me MISS HUSSON and OUR ZIDANE are very well suited here. The 3yr olds getting tested over the 2000m for the first time. The best form race for this should be the Some Call Her Wild (Saturday form) and these two were by far the strongest late. I’d be surprised if one of them didn’t win.

Outside of them DON ELLA and AMEXED who had a run to forget last time out can be given thought to. AMEXED, a well-bred NZ buy is the one that may improve sharply.

On Top:  3- OUR ZIDANE    +    4- MISS HUSSON

Roughie:  5- AMEXED

Race 7:

Not really sure where the speed comes from here? Matt Dunn will probably not want to change BELIVE’N’RECEIVE coming from behind after his last run but he has been on pace and won before down south. With 54.5kg I’d consider pushing forward and I reckon it would be hard to run down.

BINGO ROSE comes out of the Love Rocks race and is perfectly placed here, 1350m, 2nd up, good gate, reasonable weight.

VACALLO, had enough of him but will be thereabouts. Similar story with CRACCO.

GUNNER KNOX (SCRATCHED) creates interest for me. Not bad first up, prepared to think he will be better for the run and more than up to this grade at best.

PRETTY GULLY a chance but has she found her limit? (probably about this grade though)

MISHANI EDGE over the odds around the $17 somewhere.

HEBRON ROAD is a half to QFIGHTER- Also half as good…

UPDATE FRIDAY— Mail now coming for ERGO.. Must go in

Next Best:  2- BINGO ROSE,

‘Overs’:  13 – MISHANI EDGE

Race 8:

Interesting speed wise here. LOVE ROCKS should hold the front and MAHISARA should sit outside. BENNYS BUTTONS, MORNING CAPTAIN and LUCKY HUSSLER should get every opportunity to sit just behind the pace in the perfect position for this.

MAHISARA with 59, gate 14 doesn’t interest me but he is simply too good to say ‘no’. Four weeks between runs for a stallion may not be ideal either but Colless has a habit of getting them in from out there and to tell you the truth he should be able to sit outside lead without a lot of drama..

Although LUCKY HUSSLER meets most of these about 1.5kg worse off at the weights he can only improve off that run. MORNING CAPTAIN is screaming to win one of these and he will be withing striking distance.

I always have respect for STARTSMEUP who got us some great value last time, and STEEL ZIP, however I am worried about the speed in the race here and think they may give away too much start on a track that may be hard and fast come this time in the arvo. MISHANI WARRIOR not the worst and although 1st up he will be strong late. Even though it was a maiden early in his career he beat Caellum by nearly 1 1/2 L fresh over 1400m..

Race 9:

A couple of really good claims (I will have to look into how much or if they can claim all) Jamieson claims 3kg on HI SON and Goold 3kg on the blackbooker WALHAAN. (SCRATCHED)

HI SON is simply a horse I think has untapped potential. Yes after a few campaigns it is time to deliver but I think he can. 3rd up into this and getting to the 1600m suits. EF would have been better but if he gets clear running on straightening he will be hard to hold out.

WALHAAN ($8) struck a wet track and the classy Emerald Duke last time out. Gets the good gate and light weight here. Will take some beating.

ALTAI WARRIOR, TRAKSTAR, MAC’S ADDICTION, DIENEKES and TAIL AND ALL can all have decent cases made for them but leaning to HI SON and WALHAAN.

*Only real concern is that late in the day on potentially a GOOD 2, leaders can be very hard to run down! DIENEKES probably the best of leaders if that is the case and ALTAI WARRIOR if he sits closer again.

UPDATE– After thhe WALHAAN scratching there are a few pulling your shirt telling you it’s TRAKSTARS day. Respect him and even MAC’S ADDICTION can run some type of race.

On Top:  9- TRAKSTAR  +    7- HI SON

Brisbane Race 9 No.14 – WALHAAN  $8 e/w  (SCRATCHED)
