Previewing the meeting but not real keen on the day. A bigger preview will be up with numbers at THE RACE CLUB.

Have a great weekend!

Race 1:

What are you meant to do with APACHE CHASE? No trial, probably a jumpout but our vision in QLD has no names so it’s absolutely useless for punters. (How is that good for turnover?) Can only watch the market.

BELLISSIMI AMICI and MISHANI MACHINE went to the line together last start. They got themselves into horrible spots and can’t get back to last again here. She was another horse Robbie missed the start on but maybe didn’t have options from the gate. Both of those are live chances and just a slight lean to the Heathcote runner.

*Might not bet because of the query about the Forster runner. Might update before race day.

Race 2:

Well you have to be in the corner of the visitors. They are clearly better than our locals and they get the two guys that ride this track best. Only query is how they handle hard EF track. ETHERIDGE especially seems to like getting the toe into the ground but does gets Baylee steering. QUALITY SEEKERS runs a few back were outstanding form for this. Just have to forgive the flop last start the Vic way of going.

IN YOUR ELEMENT and DREAM BUILDER the horses for exotics in my opinion.

UPDATE: ETHERIDGE now scratched and QUALITY SEEKER into odds on so staying out.

*QUALITY SEEKER on top but stupid odds now

Race 3:

The best form race should be the one BADOOSH and VIOLET come out of. VIOLET was clearly better there but BADOOSH was held up for the first half of the straight and should have finished a lot closer. Blinkers come off, always rather see them when they come off but he’s been going well and might have matured enough to not need them now. VIOLET was brilliant last start and the fact she draws gate 3 with the bloke who rides this track best means she goes on top. If there is a query it’s the big weight for a little filly.

*Might have something VIOLET $2.50

Race 4:

GRESHAM was outstanding winning two runs back before a little plain without clear running at stages last week. Wasn’t as bad as it reads on paper and back to the mile means he’s still hard to beat in this. SAVWELL meets him 7.5kg better off than when they last met, should also be fitter and looks to make his presence felt. TURNBERRY would be winning this at his best. First run in 5 weeks last start was a little avg. Can improve off it and rolls forward in a race without any speed.

*Watching on

Race 5:

Really good speed here, interesting to see Gollan has Baylee on SECRET LADY who won a trial recently and having first run for the stable. I’ve landed on the stablemate TRAIL OF GLORY. The query is she might need this run and it could be a second barrier trial. Her runs last prep were better than they look and if she can stay in contact here she will be the strongest late. She been a very good horse since the blinkers went on. DON’T LEAVE ME OUT and WRITTEN FOR EASE need good rides from the gate but can be in the money with some luck in running. GYPSY TOFF in good form and would expect her to run well again on speed.

*Had a little bet TRAIL OF GLORY at the $14 opening price.

Race 6:

Liked TYCOON ACE last start and was disappointed, worst run for a while so hard to back up. Does look a suitable race but probably staying out again.

*Opened around $10, close to being tempting for a minimum bet.

************************************************************************

Race 7:

Really even race, we’d be here all day trying to work it out. CAPE WICKHAM has been around Impasse his last two, a similar effort goes close at $9. Can make a case for many of them though.

*Not betting.

Race 8:

Can’t help but feel they have pulled the wrong rein with PROFIT. I mentioned when he was aimed at the MM i’d have let him have another 3 months in the paddock and aim at Brisbane or Melb carnivals. He’s a genuinely good horse and there was no need to look at a Millions prep which then throws everything out. He’s a ripper and can win.

The issue for all of the main hopes is there is NO speed at all here.

BALLISTIC BOY is a very good horse with upside, Stewart rides and he might just outride the rest of these.

STAR OF MICHELIN will get back and fly late. Will have a lot to do from back there.

*Not betting.

**********************************************************************

Race 9:

EMERALD KINGDOM just keeps winning. Probably wins again to be fair, not keen to take short odds in a good race. Fradd/Heathcote at EF are near unbeatable at the moment. $2.50 as I type, that seems fair, every chance he starts odds on.

BOOMTOWN LASS gets in extremely well here under the conditions and with the claim for Thornton, I’d rather her at Doomben. STAR BOY is above average and gets a good run behind the leaders. Just might need the run? No official trial and fresh record not outstanding.

On top: EMERALD KINGDOM $2.50

Hardest To Beat: STAR BOY $15, BOOMTOWN LASS
