Early look at the Kosi

Well Racing NSW added the Kosi to Everest Day and even though there has been plenty of positive and negative talk about it you can bet it’s going to be a great race.

Just thought I’d go over the horses chances in my opinion and of course we have barrier draws etc to go over also.

(I’ve been away so only just realised the last two slots have been taken.)

CARE TO THINK– Obviously everyone knows his class but being close to the horse I feel we still haven’t seen his best and we feel he is a genuine G1-G2 horse. Last prep is just worth putting a line through, he was pretty much in work from November till June and we pulled the wrong rein going to Syd. He’d just had enough, hence his last couple of runs were just not him. He has had a throat operation but the main difference is the time out has just given him time to refresh and for any niggles or wear and tear from a long prep to now be 100%. Recent trial was good and if he can draw a gate he has to start fav.

VICTOREM– As an owner of CTT this horse is about the only horse who gives me a little concern. He does have to take another step forward from what we have seen but his trials say he has progressed nicely. He won the country championships last year and is one of the only horses with a turn of foot like CTT, serious horse and hope if we don’t win that they do.

DON’T GIVE A DAMN– Good horse coming off a strange prep. Reckon he has class and is well placed in ‘country’ races as he is possibly G3 level horse over 1400-1600m. That’s my little query on him, feel he is at his best over further.

SNITZ– Think he’s a couple of lengths behind his stablemate but 1200m is good and he will improve lengths off the close up 3rd from Doomben Saturday. He has measured up to some of our better 3yr olds last year in QLD and if he gets a gate he can weigh in somewhere for sure.

KOPI LUWAK– Not for me, just the injuries and lay offs a query for mine.

THE MONSTAR– Has won a G2 so deserves his spot. As we speak there isn’t huge pressure in the race and he is the likely leader. Always gives a nice kick and he would like some rain around as that is his preferred ground.

BELFLYER– One of my fav horses around the northern rivers and his run in the Ramornie was excellent where he beat home The Monstar. He has a nice turn of foot and 1200m around Randwick suits. He can finish in the first half.

SUNCRAZE– Randwick is what gives him a chance. Another who would rather 1400m but will be strong late.

O SO HAZY– Genuine roughie on recent form but did beat a lot of these home when 3rd to Victorem in the Country Championships last year.

AFTER ALL THAT– No doubt he is a very handy horse and the fresh run was good. Have him as another who will be strong late and can finished top six.

SHARPE HUSSLER– Does have a nice turn of foot. Will get back and hope for a good tempo. Does mix his form, can be very good or plain but new stable doing a good job with him.

RUTHLESS AGENT– Genuine roughie of the field, been double figure odds in far easier races and well beaten recently.

(At this stage before gates I have CARE TO THINK and VICTOREM the two on top and SNITZ/DON’T GIVE A DAMN maybe the next couple)
