Early mail

There are always a lot of punters out there that like to get on the early markets on a Thursday or Friday if they think there is value to be had.

I have been doing a spot on a Radiotab of a Thursday with Steve Hewlett with an early guide to a few of what I see to be good weekend bets. We have had a good run and I want to make sure that you guys don’t miss out on them, so I will let you know the four I came up with today and why.

Brisbane Race 2 no.7 SIZZLING

*As most followers of the website would know, I always say just watch the two-year olds and don’t bother. But this son of Snitzel trialled against a horse that myself and some mates have a small share in and it trialled terrific. He went back early and made ground in the straight without the jockey asking him to do a thing. Looks a promising type and I’m happy to break my rules and have something on him.

Brisbane Race 4 no.3 OUR RECIDIVEST

*Has worked its way through the grades nicely. Did jump in grade last time, but box seated, relaxed and fought hard when challenged to win well.  There is not much pace on again here and I’d expect him to be right up on the pace again. RUNDLE again looks the main danger, however  OUR RECIDIVEST will be a few lengths in front of it in the run and does also meet it 3kg better off for beating it last start.

Brisbane Race 8 no.5 GEBLITZ

*The barrier cruelled her last start as she got too far back and flew late. She is a black type quality mare in a no metrop win race with 53.5kg.. She just looks perfectly placed and I find it hard to see her being beat unless she finds some bad luck in running, but gate 7 should suit her fine.

Melbourne Race 5 no.4 LAUNAY e/w.

*I understand many punters may have dropped off this bloke, but I felt his last run was very good. While most of the other leaders punctured on the turn, he fought hard and was simply over run by some really good horses like Woorim and Thankgodyou’rehere. He finished alongside Amethon who ran well last week, and you could say Woorim was unlucky not to go close in the Group 1 Emirates. That all stacks up well for this race. UNDER THE EIFFEL is a deserved short favourite, but for the e/w punters I think LAUNAY can stand up and get back in the winner’s circle.

*The early markets should be up on Tattsbet most likely tonight for those interested www.tatts.com

**Remember to check in Friday afternoon for the big guide to the Brisbane card and of course “The Prophet” checks in with his mail, and we will put up some blackbookers and quaddie selections if you are interested.
