‘Early mail’

Print Friendly

A good week for the ‘early mail’ last week with Bymonashee saluting. $9-10 on offer on the Thursday and paid $6-7 on the day. That is what this article is about, trying to find a bit of value in the early markets.

This week however we have a wet track that is drying, and the track is the tight Gold Coast which can be unsuitable for some horses. For that reason I have not gone too wide and only have two I think can put us in front for the day.

Here are the horses I gave to Steve Hewlett this moring on RadioTab..

GOLD COAST Race 3 No.6 — FLYING JET

*Really good fresh horse who got back to her best last prep.

*Looks only a few winning chances here and $3.50-4 would be inviting.

*There is enough pace on paper to bring her right into this. Hopefully they ride her midfield and get her to the outside to let down late.

GOLD COAST Race 4 No.11 — PURE PURRFECTION

*Is around the e/w mark and that may be the way to go here.

*A few smart horses in this race but this mare was given absolutely no chance last start when 4-5 wide the entire trip on a mad leaders track.

*Gets gate 3 and McMahon takes the ride. She will grow wings late and would be shorter if she had won last start (which she probably would have)

**I like to throw at least one decent priced horse out so I have gone to the BUNBURY CUP today in WA. No.5 DESTROY is worth some thought for tri’s and quadrella’s, and even a small sneaky e/w wager. Although he jumps from 1800-2200m and this track suits frontrunners, I do believe they will run this along at a good clip to give him a chance. He is handy on his day, has had 3 runs back and better for that racing. At $15-20 I think he will run better than that price says.
