How are the punters holding up?
Believe it or not I’m having trouble keeping up with the form! I was very keen to get an article up on Buffering leading into Patinack sprint, but unfortunately run out of time.
So here are a couple of horses to look at Thursday, and the early mail for Saturday.
(All in Melbourne)
Thursday Race 5 No.4 NEW BEGINNING
*Very keen on this mare. John Thompson has always liked her and although maybe not getting in that well at the weights she will be extremely hard to beat.
*She drops from a Group 2 where she finished alongside APPEARANCE who then won a G1 at her next start. It’s a big drop back to the greys race over the carnival and I think at $6.50 she’s the best e/w bet all day!
Saturday Race 5 No.1- BUFFERING
*Forget last start and look at it as a positive you’re getting around $5.50 for Australia’s best sprinter.
*Loves the straight 6 at Flemington and I expect him to bounce back in a big way.
Saturday Race 7 No.1- SILENT ACHIEVER
*Don’t like tipping them at odds on but gee she looks a good thing.
*Beat a much better field at WFA last start and Flemington 2000m against mares is far more suitable!
Saturday Race 9 No.8 – TOKUGAWA
*Another dropping from good runs in G1 and G2 races back to an open handicap..
*56kg against these is very suitable.
*The only thing I would warn punters about is if the track gets too hard?? It is the last race of the day and with no rain about that may be a concern with his best form coming on dead or worse surfaces.
*Of course I will have the head down and bum up trying to type ‘THE PUNT’ up for you guys by Friday arvo.
If you’re having a tough time on the punt remember to punt responsibly, and good luck to all if you are betting Oaks and Emirates days!
