The barrier draw and fields have been done for the feature races in Perth including the Railway stakes 1600m and the Winterbottom 1200m for the coming weekend.
If time persists this week I will try to get a little video preview up on the site late this week with a little insight into WA’s big races.
At first glance it does look as though He’s Remarkable will be hard to beat with 53kg and barrier 1 in his favour. Avienus who ran in the Cox plate has come up with gate 10, while local hero Playing God drew 9, but has 57kg to lump under the handicap conditions. Favourite Ranger drew 6 and will carry 56kg and Pike will take the ride.
The Winterbottom will again be an interesting race with 14 starters and a couple of pretty good sprinters from the Eastern seaboard going over to mix it with the best from the west. Grand Nirvana and Ortensia are the highest rated horses in the race and will appreciate the fact that it is run at Weight for Age.
