Edmonds rebuilding well

It wasn’t long ago Toby Edmonds was heading up the Queensland team for Patinack, but as many people have before him, Toby was told he wasn’t needed anymore and was left to start all over again by himself.

But I had a quick chat to Toby yesterday and he is doing quite well and starting to get some good horses in the stables. He is also looking at buying some more in the near future and we will catch up with him to give people the heads up on those purchases in case you are keen on racing one with him.

I received a question from a member regarding one in the stable named Three Red Roses. The question was regarding if Toby could get her ready for the Oaks or if time had run out as it is only 5 weeks away?

“She would have really had to run last week I would have thought to get there, but we got washed out on the Gold Coast. In saying that though, she is nominated and has a very solid staying pedigree.” Edmonds said.

He also added that he would “never say never” with her but it would be a tough task third or fourth up, and that is if she had enough prizemoney to get into the field.

He was training the classy Conquering Queen, but I was also unaware that she got sold through the broodmare sales at Easter. To make up for that though he has picked up the nice Sydney mare Girl Hussler who has run some very good races in her time, and with Toby’s touch and the Queensland climate may even improve this campaign.

“She is a nice filly, probably not far off being a topliner.” Toby told us.

It was good to catch up with Toby Edmonds and he does seem to be doing a good job of getting his stable firing once again and has got a couple of nice horses already to have some fun with. As I said we will touch base with him again in the coming months, but it will be interesting to follow the progress of Girl Hussler and Three Red Roses in the mean time.
