Ekka raceday preview

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Well the Exhibition raceday is upon us again. About 20,000 people are expected and the weather will be super!

The rail is out 2m from the 1000m-400m and true the remainder. We will have a Good 3 surface.

Here are a few chances I have picked out on a decent and even days racing at Eagle Farm.

(Quadrella selections will be final just after 9am Wednesday morning)

**I will start with the two Blackbookers we have running:

August 15

**Prices are TATTSBET prices at time of typing..  www.tatts.com

Race 3: This simply looks a race in two. FROM LONDON $4.20 and REVITALISE $2.15 should have a couple of lengths on these and should have a good battle on their hands. REVITALISE was favourite in the last race in Brisbane on Saturday where he was going to have to lump 57kg. He instead races here in an easier assignment and carries 52.5kg after the claim for Vance. He will be extremely hard to beat but FROM LONDON is also going really well and I think Cahill will push forward and be in front of REVITALISE in the run.

*If REVITALISE is too short to back I’d consider the simple quinella, or stand the two horses out for 1st + 2nd and throw a few in for 3rd in a cheap trifecta.

Race 6: A race that BRIGADOON JACK gets his chance to win in town again. He has the ordinary barrier 15, but he gets in with a good apprentice on board with 56kg. He will push forward from that gate and be right on pace. This looks his race and I think he looks a good bet.

BRADBURY CHOCOLATE (scratched)is the obvious danger and I’m sure money will come for her on the day. I’m not convinced she was going that well the other day but she has a feather weight here and a decent gate to help.

SCARBANK, CHORAL,TACKER, NICKERA and SOLEBID can all run well and fill the first 4 placing’s between them.

*$3.50 looks a good price Brigadoon Jack.

Race 7: An interesting sprint race where tempo can play a big part. Happy to go with PROST who has raced without luck for most of his preparation, however he may be giving them a bit of a start. Munce will need to find some cover for him early and release him on straightening.

As I have stated before THE RINGMASTER seems like a far better chaser than when he is pushed out to be on speed. If they ride him patiently I think he would be a chance of putting these away quickly.

SKATING ON ICE has been very costly but she gets the gun run here and every chance to atone for some recent efforts. This is D-Day.

RIVER LAD is the best of the rest and more than capable of winning this with a good ride from Bell.

On Top: 8-PROST
