Gibbo’s Wrap Up- MOSHEEN

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Wow, what a day’s racing. I have already carried on about the Eagle Farm track, so I won’t go there again today, but I’m sure my point was proven yesterday!

The rain did ruin the card in Brisbane to a certain degree. It certainly makes it hard trying to do a preview for you guys on a Thursday/Friday and a rain event like that can pop up from nowhere. We did get the Melbourne quadrella for the second week in a row, so if you are one of the people who like ‘The Punt’ part of the site, congratulations!

Quickly brushing over the Brisbane card Boys On Tour made an emphatic comeback to racing in demolishing a decent 3 year old field.

Just a quick mention of the protest in Sydney which cost Manawanui victory. It was a pretty simple case and I feel they made the right decision. The stewards had no other choice but to give the race to Wild And Proud after Schofield rolled in and slightly took it’s running. When the margin is so close and the evidence is so clear, it is a lot easier for stewards.

There are only two things I’d like to talk about- MOSHEEN and DANNY NIKOLIC. If you missed it do yourself a favour and find a replay. Somehow he has jumped from the outside gate, got across and after 500m was on the fence and in front of five or six runners! He then found the horse he wanted to follow in Proliferate and stalked it to the turn. His only problem was that he had that much horse underneath him that there wasn’t a horse going good enough to take him into it so he was patient and waited for the gap to come. When it did open up the race was over in five strides and it was a matter of placing’s. Truly one of the best rides you will ever see!

It did seem very strange that even a lot of good judges had a knock on her after her last start 2nd. Why? I could not understand how she could be knocked? Let’s have a look at her form. (Remembering she was the only horse to get close to Atlantic Jewel, and did win the oaks by 9 lengths)  First up she gave That’s The One 1kg and gave him a beating by 1.8L (she would meet him 3kg better off in this race yet only $1 difference in the market). Then 2nd up the stable said she had a big blow after a narrow defeat to SHOPAHOLIC who she gave 3.5kg to, and that horse came out a week later and blew away a good field with absolute ease. With natural improvement in condition from that run it’s pretty hard to knock.

She wasn’t a ‘good thing’ in this because the gate was the query, but Nikolic fixed that that! She is a superstar and the sky is the limit. She will head to Sydney now and will be hard to beat in anything she contests. I’m sure our mates at Aquanita may be able to let us know the plans they come up with later in the week. I will chase that up and I will pass that onto you guys as soon as possible.

HELMET leaped in the air as the gates opened and his hopes were dashed. As much as I love him and know how much talent he has, there is a little question as to if he has come back with his mind on the game. It’s either that or he is simply one dimensional and has to lead at all costs. He is off overseas now so the punters who were on him don’t have to worry about the heartache of wondering what he will do next start.

All in all a good days racing considering  all three main states were severely rain affected.

*We head to Newmarket day and I will be getting another few interviews throughout the week to help you find some winners. ‘The Prophet’ struck again yesterday with Panapique winning and Biancon Rose runnind 2nd also. Our BLACKBOOKERS again found some winners including MOSHEEN, PRAECIDO and PRONTO PRONTO  who won midweek for those who checked in on the midweek articles.
