Glenlogan’s day out Saturday

After a great weekend at the races for Glenlogan Park sires, Stud Manager Steve Morley caught up with some of winning trainers to talk about their horses performances and we are lucky enough to share those interviews. Congratulations to all the connections of the winners of the Qtis races and it is another great advertisement for the QTIS bonus scheme!

GLENLOGAN PARK sires again dominated the rich QTIS racing from Eagle Farm on Saturday with both the 2YO and 3YO events being taken out by stallions standing at Queensland’s leading farm.

Kicking off the day was the debut performance of a Show A Heart youngster we are sure to hear plenty more about in Show A Prince.

The Liam Birchley trained gelding displayed a turn of foot that only really good horses possess as he exploded from the rear of the field to easily overhaul his opposition and win convincingly by an ever-widening 3 lengths.

Birchley has always held a very high opinion of Show A Prince but admitted “that until the last week he has not been able to change from 4th gear to 5th in his trackwork.”

“I’ve always really liked this bloke but I am convinced he is at least a preparation away from being the best he can be,” Liam said after the race. “His effort here today probably caught us a little off guard and he has exceeded our expectations from what we thought would happen on his first day to the races.

“We thought we might see that sort of run at his second or third time out as he still has some maturing to do mentally.

“However you can’t help but be impressed as he gave some nice horses a start and then rounded them up and beat them easily.”"Show A Heart"

The Show A Heart 2YO settled second last in the field of nine but could be seen stalking the leading group as they approached the turn.

Jockey Scott Galloway then let him slide to the outside before pushing the “go button” as Show A Prince flattened out and unleashed a closing sectional time that was the fastest of the day – inclusive of the open sprinters.

“He still has a bit to learn,” Galloway confirmed. “However he has a big motor and when he let down he really flew across the turf.

“There is no question he has a great future and there should be some pretty big targets coming up for him.”

Birchley however is determined not to push his promising youngster too hard at his first campaign and will now just take things one race at a time.

“There is a 1000m race here in a fortnight or a 1200m event in three weeks,” Liam added. “We will just see how he comes through this run before deciding where to step him out next.

“After that it will all just be up to him and we will be guided by how he progresses over the next few weeks as to when we pull up stumps and go to the paddock.

“I’ve said all along I think he is going to make into a better 3YO so we won’t jeopardize his future by stretching him too far this campaign.

“But the future certainly looks very, very bright for him!”

Later in the day BRADBURY’S LUCK impressively delivered the 3YO QTIS event to the ranks of the Glenlogan Park sires when the Bryan Guy trained filly In A Tangle came from last in the field of thirteen to swamp her rivals in the shadows of the post.

In A Tangle was having her second run back this preparation after delivering an eye catching return three weeks ago over the 1200m.

“We thought she would perform really well today and were excited about her chances before the barrier draw came out,” Bryan said not long after the race. “However drawing the outside meant we were going to have to let her drop out and then we just hoped there would be enough speed on to let her get into it.

“It was a terrific effort and she was very strong to the line. Considering the way the race was run she did an amazing job to overhaul them.

“There is a similar race here in two weeks and if she comes through that well we will head to a Listed Race over the mile two weeks after that.

“If all goes according to plan she will then target the (Listed) Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) before going on to the (G3) Doomben Roses (2020m).

“She has always shown us well above average ability and gives the impression she will relish getting over a bit of ground.”

The Glenlogan Park sires only had runners in four of the events run at Eagle Farm on Saturday but incredibly managed to claim three of them.

FALVELON was the other contributor when he chimed in with the winner of the Open Class Sprint in Fangles.

The Steve Jones trained 6YO began like a bomb to cross and lead the field before being eased to take a trail as a couple of his competitors came across to take up the running.

Jockey Scott Galloway then squeezed Fangles through a tight opening in the straight and the Falvelon gelding did the rest as he stretched out to grab victory in the shadows of the post.

Falvelon continues to deliver winner after winner every week and from just 153 runners this season is now up and challenging Sequalo (210 runners) for second placing in the battle for QLD Champion Stallion.

However both stallions are attempting to try and bridge a big gap behind runaway leader Show A Heart.
