Gollan going well leading into Brissy move

Queensland will have a few runners in the big Newmarket handicap down the straight six furlongs this weekend and one will be Temple Of Boom for Tony Gollan who is going from strength to strength and has bought up really well at the sales so far this year and I’m sure that will continue when the QTIS sales come to town in a couple of weeks.

Tony told me yesterday he is happy with the horse heading into the race, but realises the task at hand. “He’s been good, no complaints, everything seems to be going along fine and he will have his final piece of work tomorrow morning (today).” The forecast is not in their favour as the horse would love a drop of rain as that is when he shows his best.

He respects all the opposition but feels Hay List is probably the hardest to beat and is the tough proven sprinter in the field.

The stable also had an impressive two year old win on Saturday in Tear It Up. She jumped well, sat outside the lead and packed to many punches to claim victory. Tony feels she is an above average filly and thought she was a city class horse for a while now and she will win more in town. He also said that the horse has now gone to the paddock for a break.

The young trainers move to Brisbane is taking shape and he hopes to be settled in Brisbane hopefully early April. I’m sure this will see the stable reach the next level and with horses like Temple Of Boom, Spirit Of Boom, Listen Son, Cariad and more coming through, a big winter carnival may well be on the cards!
