Gollan making every post a winner!

A trainer that is flying at the moment and really starting to make a big name for himself is Tony Gollan.

The stable has moved to Eagle Farm from Toowoomba and the new season has started with a bang! I had a good chat with Tony at the ATA’s award ceremony for the Wayne Wilson Medal (for the most outstanding training performance of the year, which Gollan won)  he was wrapped to win the medal and said that the whole team of horses had settled in well to their new surroundings.

He has had a constant flow of winners since including Bang On, Boomalicous, Silver Command and Pure Purrfection in the last couple of weeks. Trakstar, Koranovsky, White Phosphorus and a heap of others have also been running well without a lot of luck.

Spirit Of Boom was terrific going down a by a head to We’re Gonna Rock in the Bobbie Lewis down the Flemington straight on Saturday. Gollan was pleased with the run but did want a better result. “He run well. We went there to win and got beat a half head. We were happy with the run but I have to admit I wanted a different result”. The horse will take improvement out of the run and he said there may also be the option of The Shorts at Randwick in two weeks’ time. There is also the Gilgai back at Flemington in 4 weeks’ time.

Temple Of Boom has actually improved his whole career and there is no doubt his last preparation was his best. He has had a slower build up this prep and we won’t see him till either the Gilgai or the Schillaci Stakes. Gollan said he wants to go into the Patinack as the horses 3rd run into his prep. The horse will be very forward when he steps out and the stable are very happy with where he is at.

With so many nice horses around the stable I had to ask for a couple we should follow in the coming month or so. Trakstar is a horse Tony has a lot of time for and that has been racing with no luck. It will step out over a mile this weekend and I believe there will be an apprentice on board in M.Vance to take a claim. Silver Command was the other horse Tony feels can step up now after a good midweek win and he is confident that the horse can make the step to Saturday grade and be winning in the near future.

No doubt this team will continue to grow and train constant winners. Tony purchased around 15 yearlings around this year’s sales. With old owners sticking around and new ones coming on board you can expect to be seeing Gollan in the winner’s circle more and more often!
