Gollan’s other stars to return

The trainer with probably the best strike rate in QLD at the moment would be Tony Gollan. After knocking up winners over the last month, he went to Flemington again on Sunday and took out the Group2 Gilgai stakes with Temple Of Boom.

Off the top of my head Gollan has trained about 9 winners over the last three weekends at Toowoomba as well as winners at the Gold Coast and Ipswich. But the real story out of the stable is the incredible form of Temple Of Boom. He got a dead track which is the key to him and Tony feels he has more wins in him over the spring. “His sectionals were impressive, he appreciates the sting out of the ground, he likes cover and when you let him down he does like some galloping room. He will go to the Caulfield sprint 1100m on Caulfield cup day and they have predicted a high probability of rain between now and then, and if we get a track to suit we will run. From there it is the Salinger.” Gollan said.

The other stars in the stable are Listen Son and Spirit Of Boom, and both are making returns to the track in the upcoming weeks. Listen Son resumes this Saturday in Brisbane over 1300m and Tony said the horse has come back well. “He has trialled nicely twice at 1060m, he is very forward, he coat is not right through yet but it is coming and he is looking very fit. He should run on Derby day in the Group3 1400m race at Flemington.”

Spirit Of Boom is a horse I have always had an opinion of and Tony informed us that he is also coming along well. “He trialled really good actually, and he will resume Saturday week in an open 1200m race. I’ve struggled to find the race for him up here. He will race in the 1200m on Melbourne cup day (the same race Falino will race in).”

It is interesting to note that Tony also has a new addition to the stable in classy mare Cariad. We will see her at the races shortly.

With his team absolutely flying you would be very game to leave any of Tony Gollan’s horses out of your calculations when you see them in suitable races. He is a trainer who is climbing the ranks very quickly and we will continue to hear of more and more winners from Gollan racing!
