Graceful Anna a chance for brissy

The Coolmore classic was run at Rosehill on Saturday and a couple of the fancies probably didn’t perform up to expectations but must be forgiven as the heavy track played a big part in the outcome of the Group1.  One of the horses in the market was Graceful Anna who has been flying this campaign and her trainer David Pfieffer has got the mare back to her very best, but unfortunately didn’t handle the wet track on the day.

David Pfieffer is a young trainer on the rise who has already come north and taken home some of our biggest races. I caught up with him to ask how Graceful Anna had pulled up, and started by asking if she was a chance to again make her way to our Winter carnival?

“ I am making my mind up this week, she will either go three weeks between runs to the Sapphire stakes fillies and mares on Doncaster day, or give her a freshen up and take her to Brisbane for the BTC cup group 1 WFA, the QTC cup on Oaks day and probably into the Winter stakes.” Pfieffer told brissyraces. I also asked if that meant forgoing the Stradbroke with the daughter of Canny lad? “I am chasing group 1 with her and the obvious way is through fillies and mares races.” David said.

Apparently the mare pulled up terrific after the race on the weekend and her effort was simply because of the rain affected track. “She has pulled up good and just didn’t handle the track.” David also mentioned that she was in probably the worst part of the track by that time of day and that Damien Oliver said she copped a buffering and had mud etc getting thrown back at her and she just didn’t want to be there.

From where I stand it is a total forgive run as a lot of horses should be looked at the same way from that track on the weekend. She is a quality mare and I hope we are lucky enough to see her up here during our carnival as her form before the weekend was outstanding, including a second to Triple Elegance who will be a live chance come the Doncaster mile. Last time Graceful Anna and Pfieffer visited they took home the Silk Stocking, ran third in the BTC classic and ran fourth to Catapulted in the QTC cup, so they know what they are doing and will be extremely competitive in any of our group races. Another good result will also see her reach the $1,000,000 in earnings which is a huge credit to her trainer too.

I know we have some southern members on our site, and maybe some interstate owners so for those interested you can check out more about David Pfieffer at his website
