Stallions only runner wins again

Simon Miller’s masterful placement has been rewarded again, with exciting Helter Skelter mare Mia China Doll dominating from the front  and running away with the 1200 metre 0-74 sprint on Saturday at Ascot.

The superfast 4 year old continues to impress Miller! ‘The things she does at home, continues to amaze me. I’ll speak to Pat and we might take the blinkers off her now.  People have to realise she’s out in the river every time she goes around’ (MCD hasn’t drawn inside 10 in her career)

Mia China Doll is the sole horse flying the flag for South East Queensland sire Helter Skelter.  Only six horses were produced in the same year as the mare and three have been winners, including Mia China Doll’s impressive stats of 4 wins and a second from only 6 starts. After limited opportunities with mares the son of English speedster Piccolo should recognise a stronger profile this coming season having served multiple mares at Craiglea Stud last year.

Simon Miller is happy to continue picking off races while Mia China Doll ranks down in the weights, he will look for another race in 2 weeks time  and says he’ll even consider bringing her back in distance. ‘She is showing us that while we head further into the prep, any soundness issues we’ve had to address have improved, the same happened last campaign’

Mia China Doll is raced by a group of enthusiastic Perth racing identities including WA Racing committeeman Peter Gangemi. The owners purchased the mare at the 2010 Magic Millions QTIS sale for $24,000. Her return of $64,800 is now shaping as a good investment.
