Hill to continue good run!

Bruce Hill is one of Queensland’s leading trainers and his last couple of years have been outstanding to say the least. He continues to grow his stable and the results keep flowing!

Bruce has trained horses such as Startsmeup, Warrior Within and the classy Calchris to big victories, but I have no doubt the best is in front of him.

Brigadoon Jack was well supported on Saturday but once the lead was surrendered he did have a task ahead. Hill told me he wanted the horse to lead but unfortunately the lead was handed up to the others. He feels the horse can work early and still have plenty left to give a kick. We should him step out in town again in a fortnight.

Warrior Within has been racing very well when he gets the dry tracks to suit and he again raced well to place in the Grafton Cup, a race he won 12 months earlier. “Yeah went super again the other day, it’s just a shame they didn’t go overly hard.” Hill said

Caliente was the best run of the day Saturday week ago at Eagle Farm and I thought she would look a good thing this Saturday at Doomben over 1500m but she will not be lining up after a tough campaign. “She had four or five pretty hard runs, three or four of them were in Listed or pretty good races and she stood up well so we thought we’d give her a break and more than likely try to get her back for the Magic Millions.” Hill added

Lady Colours is a filly I have a huge opinion of and Bruce was telling me that we are likely to see her step out again shortly, possibly in a months’ time. She was awesome in her first preparation winning 3 from 7 and earning around $175,000 for connections. She has a few very nice wins in her again this prep. She’s a beauty!

Bruce trains out of the Gold Coast and has a team of about 40 at the moment with plenty of yearlings around the stables.
