The three-year-old gelding by Krupt out of Bonnie View is unbeaten this preparation and trainer Gratz Vella

says he has never been better.

“He has matured into a different horse this season,” the Canberra-based trainer said.

“He has grown, his track work has been fantastic and we were impressed with his two recent wins.”

Kanerupt ($7) blew away his rivals in the Wagga Early Learning Centre Handicap (1000m) on 28th October,

finishing more than four lengths ahead of Informertial ($7) and Don’t Call Me Vince ($13).

He jumped well and jockey Aaron Sweeney guided him to the front where didn’t look back.

It was a more hard fought win in the Swire Shipping Class 1 Showcase Handicap (1100m) at Gundagai on

11h November.

Despite missing the start, Kanerupt ($10) was able to claw back ground to be 5th as the field entered the

straight. With Aaron Sweeney again on board, he burst through to snatch victory from Bulala ($4) and

Lunar Duchess ($3).

“I knew he would have a good run but that result exceeded our expectations,” Vella said.

Kanerupt will go into the TAB Highway Handicap with three weeks between races.

“He is fresh, he is looking great, everything is spot on for him,” Vella said.

A win would deliver Gratz Vella his first TAB Highway victory, adding to the list of Canberra-based trainers

who have won the title.

Canberra will be well represented in the race with Barbara Joseph and son Paul Jones saddling up last start

winner Under the Eaves, while Illtextya will fly the flag for young gun, Luke Pepper.
