About time we had a catch up with the Malua team!
As people know Troy Corstens and John Sadler are the men in charge and I caught up with Troy to see where some of the stars are heading over the carnival.
We started on Linton who was outstanding 1st up yesterday at Caulfield and it turns out he has a very interesting target. “Really happy with him, gee he ran well. He has two main goals this preparation, one is the Emirates (1600m Group 1) and the Hong Kong mile. He is really being aimed at Hong Kong whereas it is usually an afterthought for Aussie horses. He will run in the 1600m at the Valley, the Emirates and then head over.” Corstens said.
Interesting to note that promising mare Vain Queen is in the paddock. She won her first up run at Caulfield but the team felt she didn’t really come up and felt the paddock was the best option at the moment and she may target the Oakleigh plate 1100m.
“Sterosonic has been out and has just come back in. He will be up and raring to go over the summer period. He is a lovely horse and going really well.”
I also had time to ask about some horses on the way up and Troy was happy to give the Brissyraces followers a steer into a couple they have a lot of time for. Pinstripe Lane is an up and coming stayer who is entered for this Saturday. He broke his maiden over 2060m at Cranbourne about three weeks ago and should run in the 1800m race at Flemington. They guys are hoping to get him to the Derby if all goes to plan. The other horse was Scarletini, the daughter of Bernadini who finished 4th in the W.A Oaks at her last start. She kicks off this Friday at Moonee Valley.
*As mentioned the guys are great supporters so jump on the link to their site and check out their horses available. I think there is small shares available in 3 or 4 well bred horses who may not be far off a start!
