Dalby trainer Matt Kropp is who I have chosen to catch up with leading into the weekends racing and he has a few horses stepping out on the weekend.
In the Brisbane metropolitan races he has the very consistent Bitasilk running in race 6 and she comes of a great first up run where she made a stack of ground. I asked Matt if the horse has come on since that run and what he thought of her chances. “She has trained on and a wet track would suit her best. She has a bad gate, but she seems well and it should be ideal for her.” Matt said.
The other horse representing the Kropp stable in town is Ponzi Scheme who has run some really big races in his time and mixed it with some pretty good horses. Last start he seemed to be a bit one paced but Matt thinks there were a few reasons and thinks he can run better Saturday. “The track was hard underneath and greasy on top (from the weather) and he was wide the whole way. To be beaten 5 lengths I don’t think that would be a bad run. Hopefully he is not wide from the bad gate again” The talented trainer told me.
Matt also has a horse we blackbooked and possibly his best horse Uncle Jan running in Dalby. We won’t be able to back it, but it is worth following. Matt has kept the big fella fresh and it may not be long until we see it come to town again. As always if Matt brings them to town he doesn’t usually bring them for a holiday and often leaves with some prizemoney.
Good luck to Matt and his runners!
