Queensland bred progeny are becoming immensely sought after and we are inching our way into the Southern markets with local Studs recording good results at the Sydney Classic Yearling Sale last week.
Jorson Farm sold all five lots totalling $158,000 with their topseller $60,000, Oakwood Farm sold one of their two entries for $27,000, Robyn Wise sold 7 of her 9 lots for a total of $106,000 with her top price $35,000 and Yarraman Park Stud (Muralla Stud as agent) and Lockyer Thoroughbreds (Widden Stud as agent) also posted successful results.
At the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale next month Queensland will again be represented by Glenlogan Park, Oakwood Farm, Lockyer Thoroughbreds (Widden Stud as agent) and Yarraman Park Stud (Yallambee Stud as agent.)
Glenlogan Park is taking 9 colts, including classy progeny by Show A Heart, who has had Group winners in Victoria and three from the first crop of Real Saga’s, who was a dominant Group winner.
While we like to promote our Magic Millions and QTIS Sales it is sensational to see Queensland-bred yearlings make the grade over the border and it proves we are making important inroads nationally, both with Queensland horses and our Studs.
Glenlogan Park is quietly confident their success in January will flow through to next month and continue into the March QTIS sale, while one of the other Magic Millions success stories, Highgrove Stud proprietor, Ron Gilbert is chomping at the bit to get to the QTIS event, where he has two premier lots on offer and is aiming to better his $175,000 top price he recorded in January. |
