**SHEWAN was an impressive winner in the Herbert Power 2400m on Saturday and has received a 1.5kg penalty in the Melbourne cup.
**BAUER’s connections have been reported to have not been very happy with how far it got back in that same race and now head to Geelong to try and make the Melbourne cup.
**Both MANIGAR and DRUNKEN SAILOR have pleased the Cumani stable leading into the Caulfield Cup.
**LAMASERY was not as well as his trainer would have liked and will bypass the Caulfield Cup. He will head to Geelong also.
**SEPOY continues to please the Darley team and will contest the Caulfield Sprint 1100m Saturday.
**ALCOPOP has finished his spring campaign after disappointing in the Caulfield Stakes 2000m last Saturday.
Although I like to get as many interviews as possible in the week, I felt we can save them for the rest of the week and I’d do a preview of the 1000 Guineas as it is always a great race and we are now into full swing of the carnival.
With CUTE EMILY drawing the inside I expect her to push up and look to hold the fence. CRUCIAL should work from gate 12 and will try to sit outside the lead, with CELEBRITY GIRL taking a nice sit behind the leaders. MOSHEEN has gate 10 and they will be looking to settle in the first four, so it will be interesting how hard they make Nikolic work to get a possie. In my mind that is enough speed to say that it should be a fair run race and give most horses a chance. As we know from the last couple of meetings, the closer you are to the lead the more chance you are of winning. For that reason it would be well worth watching how bad the pattern is on the day as it may race far more even after a couple of meetings. ATLANTIC JEWEL can get a great run midfield and even if there is a bias she can still give them a beating. She does a few things wrong in her races but it is usually because she has so much time to think about things! Rodd will not ride her pretty and will get her in clear galloping room as soon as possible. She should be winning with even luck. MOSHEEN is the obvious danger as her last win was very good when the blinkers went on and she stepped up to the 1600m. MANHATTEN MAID may be ridden a touch closer from the good gate and is worth thought for first 4’s at $81. HALLOWELL BELLE (midfield) , BLISS STREET, DISPUTES and SHARNEE ROSE are all backmarkers who if the track allows can run well. CELEBRITY GIRL is a question at the 1600m, but can run a place if there is a bias to frontrunners.
**That is how I see it and you can make what you want of the info. For those who would like to know my first 4 numbers. This is what I will be having, and I do think the top two picks select themselves so I will go wider for third and fourth.
