On ‘The Punt’ Brisbane Quaddie edition

Print Friendly

This will be the first of two ‘PUNT’ articles this week. In this I will place the Brisbane Quadrella legs and give a bit of detail.

The other article up later Friday will be the weekends best bets, TATTS jackpots, The Prophets tips etc, so be sure to check in for that as well.

Let’s get stuck into BRISBANE: (A shower is predicted but I have done this on a GOOD track, so beware if they race on anything other than that)

Race 5:

No doubt the safe bet e/w looks ELITE ECHELON but very little between 4-5 of them here and luck in running will be the difference. ELITE ECHELON has never finished worse than 2nd in his five runs and  he meets TORNADO MISS 3kg better off for a narrow defeat last start.

Like the looks of HOPFGARTEN but fair to say his last couple may not have been exactly what we expected. Did finish off good last start and interested to see how he lines up here.

MISS SUNSET will love the 1600m, will get a good trip midfield and finish hard late. Respect.

Also must respect BODEGA NEGRA who has a heap of talent but mixing form horribly. He is very good when at his top.

On Top:  5- ELITE ECHELON e/w

Race 6:

VOLKHERE has the ordinary gate here and suspect they have to go back. Personally I’d like them to be a touch more positive and try to find a spot midfield if possible. Really like his chances here. This looks easier and after the claim he gets in alright. Has a touch of class and nearly ready to peak 4th up.

Respecting the very smart Edmonds stable with QUICK WITTED and also think SPECIAL MISS has legitimate claims. No doubts REVUTALISE is not at his best but if going wide in tri’s he is not the worst at big odds.

On Top:  1- VOLKHERE

Race 7:

ROCKET TO GLORY will spear across and I’d be surprised if EXCELLANTES doesn’t follow it across and sit a length or so off the leader. EXCELLANTES has had a couple of trials leading into this and although he goes better 2nd up he should be very hard to toss here. All he needs is a dry track to go close.

VINTAGE MOSS is fav and obviously the one to beat but under $3 in this field has me questioning the value.

MORNING CAPTAIN had little luck last prep and prepared to have him on top here. Ran very well in the PM Cup at the GC 1st up last prep and Byrne gets a gun run form barrier 1.

FACILE TIGRE the big question of the race but can’t knock.

On Top:  3- MORNING CAPTAIN

Others:  2- EXCELLANTES,  5- VINTAGE MOSS

Race 8:

Very interesting race. I’m going QFIGHTER simply because he is airborne, as is his trainer Matt Dunn who has trained something like 21 winners from his last 45 runners!! This horse again will have a little against with an avg tempo but will be putting in the big bounds late. HE NEEDS IT DRY.

THE STOREMAN and SAN JOSE are the two leaders who get it easy up front and get every chance to win here. The other horse with the gun run is SIR LUMINAR, the classy 3 year old colt can sit 3rd and peel off them late. Munce on board and the first up run was better than it looks on paper and you’d expect a big fitness boost here. OAKFIELD COMMANDS is better than these on his day and interesting they went for a senior jockey and carry 59kg.

I feel they are the main chances and respecting Dunn’s other horse ZEDLION.

On Top:  8- QFIGHTER

Others:    11- SIR LUMINAR,  4- SAN JOSE,  5- THE STOREMAN,  1- OAKFIELD COMMANDS
