BLACKBOOK Runners:

SATURDAY, 8 FEBRUARY 2014

Piacenza – Caulfield R5 No.7 (1100m):

Walhaan – Eagle Farm R5 No.6 (2200m): Up to this in an even race

Keep It Moist – Eagle Farm R7 No.7 (1400m): Will be competitive for sure.

Race 1:

Never too keen on these races but a few look to have ability.

Race experience is a big plus for NO PROBLEM. He has shown ability with a couple of wins and just has to carry the 59kg to be in this.

First starters LOOKS LIKE A CAT for the Gollan camp has trialled very well and MELANYA for the Dais camp add interest and may be worth a quinella.

*Small interest Quinella

QUINELLA:  1,3,10

NOTE: i made a blue and had 1,3,7..

Race 2:

This may not be as clear cut as it looks.

BOREHOLE could be a real nuisance. If it’s wet he is hopeless and just gets in the way. He will also want to lead, as will RENEWED VITALITY. I am sure RENEWED VITALITY has the speed to keep him out but do they have nothing to lose on BOREHOLE and just keep going?? That is a big question.

Taking the risk and hoping horses are ridden correctly and RENEWED VITALITY $4.80 can lead. If that is the case he will take some catching again. The horse he beat has since come out and won which is always a good sign.

Even with 59kg FLYING HOME $6.50 is well placed here. Loves the big track and the two runs back have been very good. Munce on top and if they happen to run along he will be very strong late.

DANAGAZE and the consistent ANNA LIZZIE obviously have to be respected, especially ANNA LIZZIE with the in-form Colless steering and dropping 0.5kg on her latest win.

On Top:  4- RENEWED VITALITY

Hardest To Beat:  1- FLYING HOME,  7- ANNA LIZZIE

Race 3:

Big field over the 1000m scamper which can be a lottery but there should be value about in these events. Too many to name but let’s look at a few.

They will go like cut cats here so I want to find one just off the pace getting a good run and should get every chance, or one that may sit wide but with cover and avoid getting bottled up.

BANCHORY LASS, This is only her 3rd prep and was huge first up. The one question will she sprint as well 2nd up? Munce should give her every chance from gate 6.

DR BARNARD $31 has been going around at Toowoomba and although the last couple look plain I am prepared to think he is worth a little wager with just 53.5kg from the good gate. He will drift back a bit but will only need a split and at his best he is up to this.

STAR SAMMY $8.50 has a bit of class on these and the freshen and drop to 1000m is no issue for me. Bell may have to sit 3 wide with cover but if that is the case he is still good enough to win. Has run well against better performed horses than most of these.

WHO WILL has won 5 of 15 and a clever 2kg claim here gets him in well. $5.50

ADORABUBBLE has won 4 of 5 but this is biggest test so far.

FLORIDA FELLOW mixes form but 1000m is his pet trip.

*Very even, gate is a slight concern but going with STAR SAMMY (now SCRATCHED)

On Top:  11- BANCHORY LASS,     2- DR BARNARD $31,    5- WHO WILL

Race 4:

If they went like ‘cut cats’ in the last race , they will go like last weeks wagers here! ADEBISI, SNITZEM, ROCKY KING, ALL THAT and MASTER GAZE are out and out speedsters who only know one way- FLAT OUT!!!

The only question is can any of them keep going and win?

If SNITZEM is right (and I am guessing Waller hasn’t got him here for a holiday) he is a different class to these. Always a question on the comeback though. Look for a money trail.

Many will not like THE RINGMASTER but this is a perfect race, they are forced to sit with cover 5th-6th and the horse is lengths better like that.

Colless in form and GDAY OLD MATE is a blackbooker of ours. Probably didn’t expect him to bump into these but he can run well with the speed on. ROCKY KING and SEEKING MORE both come out of that last race and beat him home. ROCKY KING meets them 1kg better for beating them……

ABEBISI???? On his best can win but one placing of last 8 means I can’t be on. Make your mind up yourself on him. You’d have to be as forgiving as my Mrs to back him! Nothing would surprise…

*Won’t be getting to involved but at the odds maybe GDAY OLD MATE for Colless.

Value:  8 – GDAY OLD MATE

Others:  6- THE RINGMASTER,  2- ROCKY KING

Race 5:

Most will go wide in this leg of the quaddie, fair enough too.

I have landed on one here at $19. CAPALLO RAPIDO is in the underrated Murphy yard and is ready to win. This is the track that suits, gets in ok after the claim and I am sure he was just ridden to close. Gets the chance to go back but doesn’t have to be last if Vance can get in before that. You will need speed up front which is a question here but at $19 I am prepared to have something on.

WALHAAAN (blackbooker + ‘The Prophets’ tip) is a horse I have been tipping and he can win as this is suitable. Gets a lovely run and will be better for the run at 2200m last time out.

LENTINI MIST likes this trip and can be there about again.

SENTA DESERT is the NSW visitor and that alone is a positive as these staying races are ordinary! From a great stable with a leading jock.

STORM FABULADOR and VALERIE D’AMOUR the best of the rest…

Value:  3 – CAPALLO RAPIDO  $19

Next Best:  5- SENTRA DESERT,  6- WALHAAN

Race 6:

Similar theme as the other races, open.

I’m not over the moon about $3.80 SEA RED off a flat run on the wet but if the track dries out she is still worth another chance. Her two runs before that were extremely impressive and a couple she beat have run well since (in easier races)

HOT SAGA was terrific winning last start where he beat PALMERA LAD, SECRET HARMONY and NOT SO SOBER. SECRET HARMONY meets HOT SAGA 3.5kg better off on the weights so it seems likely the tables could be turned.. That is the best form race leading into this.

LYNARD SKYNARD and PULSAR (scratched) are real improvers on the way up and worth some thought.

On Top:   8 – SEA RED

Next Best:  2- SECRET HARMONY,  1- HOT SAGA

Race 7:

Incredible value around a few here if you like them.

I have blackbooked KEEP IT MOIST and ‘The prophet’ has made it a tip also, he should find the front and should be able to get it pretty good up front. At $8.50 I think he is a very good each-way bet. He will roll along, give a good kick and be very hard to catch. Was caught by Excellantes last week but these are not as good as him.

I do think HARADA BAY is very handy and the next best. He will however spot them a start from the wide gate and make the task a little tough. Do not sell him short, he will be strong late.

DOCTOR DAVID is HARADA BAY’s stablemate and he is also in good form. No luck two runs back and was good at his latest outing in town.

MISS LEIBERT has been going around in quality mares races and been very consistent.

Can’t believe JOPA is $11 after his strong campaign this time in and gets in well after the claim.

SPATHA and CUM DIVIDEND probably nest best and ELLAWISDOM far from the worst (and $34 is overs) but leaning to KEEP IT MOIST here.

On Top:  7- KEEP IT MOIST  e/w $8.50

Next Best:  8- HARADA BAY

Race 8:

There is a very obvious one here in AVALADYLUCK, but still some value as I type at $4.40. Her pattern is too get back and that can make it tough, but she is suited on the big EF track and should get her chance to run over them. I think she will start shorter than that.

Away from her I think there are three horses that get charmed runs and should have no excuses. LITTLE LONG HORN who has won fresh and should push forward somewhere here. PEELINGS had no luck at all and I think the 1200m is the right move now. TRAGEDY is a decent horse who has an ordinary 2nd up record so forget last run, he can improve sharply with a good gate.

On Top:  4 – AVALADYLUCK

Others:  14- TRAGEDY,  13- PEELINGS,  7- LITTLE LONG HORN
