***Let me start by saying these big GC racedays with full fields can be killers. Luck plays a great role and for that reason I will be looking for as much value as possible**

Race 1:

As usual more than happy to watch this race and see where some of them sit..

Race 2:

A really even race.

RUDY is going better than it looks on paper but does have the big weight and would like a bigger track. Wants this trip though and not willing to write him off yet.

SOME CALL HER WILD went through the grades easy and looks well placed although a while between runs.

OUR ZIDANE is a horse I have a lot of time for. At the weights he could blow them away but I am not big on backing horses coming back in trip.

NOT SO SOBER (Scratched)is on the 3 day back-up and the win the other day was good.

Where does that leave me? Although I am not brimming with confidence I feel NAVELINA is the one with the most improvement and the one who may get back and get her chance to sprint with the lightweight.

Value – 5 NAVELINA  $7.50

Race 3:

Well another even bunch and not sure anyone can ‘declare’ something here!

BELIEVE’N’RECEIVE got the job done for us at a good price last start when ridden a treat by Colless. Not sure it will lead here but get a good sit with ALL TAKEN, TYPHOON RED and HAMPDEN all likely to push forward.

JOPA is sort of the obvious from the good gate and gets a similar run to its last start win. It is the one to beat, however if it gets 3 pairs back a good gate here can become a horror gate very quickly.

BINGO ROSE (SCRATCHED) flying and has to be respected. Two wins and two placings from 4 goes here.

I have come up with PRIMED TO WIN. Lost on protest last start but I thought the effort was really good and previous form points to this horse being handy (at this level). Drops 4kg on that effort and Whiteley knows his way around this joint!

COUNTRY COMMAND, THIRSTY FOR BLOOD both have huge chances while I still believe VIKING HEART $8 is probably the best horse in the race and value, just needs speed on to be a massive show in a race like this.

**It’s a lottery.

On Top:  13- PRIMED TO WIN

Next Best:   6- JOPA,  3- VIKING HEART

Matt Dunn Racing

Race 4:

The speed in this is on the verge of ridiculous. Some of these will be trapped so wide it won’t matter it’s 900m they will be spent!

SALUTE TO JUDE looks the most promising horse in the race. A smart 3yr old who won last start at Flemington by 2.3L. The only question is the drop back to 900m.? Im only assuming that there is a goal next week.. He could blow them away if spot on.

ROCKY KING is where I am looking. Yes he is a few runs into his prep but from gate 4 he should be able to take a sit 3rd-4th and stalk the leaders. If that happens I reckon he will be extremely hard to stop. I wouldn’t be as keen if he led but we won’t know their tactics till 100m after jump I guess.

ADEBISI?? Weight would not worry me but how is he going?? Any money in the market would need to be respected!

On Top:  2- ROCKY KING

Next Best:  10- SALUTE TO JUDE

Race 5:

A few very nice up and comers engaged.

INTO THE RED looks very good and is 3 weeks between runs here. That is not a concern but the 59kg is far from ideal. Class will take him a long way.

JET DOWN ON IT has the potential to be one of Jet Spurs best progeny. He always showed a bit but has returned nice and has a booming finish. I was impressed he beat SIEGFRIED home last start as that horse is also extremely talented. Both are players here and I’d just slightly lean to SIRGFRIED from the gate.

SEPT DE COEURS (SCRATCHED) , FLIGHT KING and ROSENET are all very impressive last start winners who can go on with the job.

Really intriguing race!!

On Top:  11- SIEGFRIED

Hardest To Beat:  1- INTO THE RED,  2- JET DOWN ON ITMaluaRacing...

Race 6:

Potential for a quaddy ‘blowout’!

Don’t like this race at all.

I was keen WALHAAN ($9) last start but he was a month between runs and at the mile. Gets to 1800m and is on the back-up. He is no big star but I reckon he has more upside than most of these and can run well at a price.

HI SON ($4.50) is group placed and showed what he can do over the right trip last start with a dominant win. He just needs luck from the gate to figure and can run over them. Similar story HORA SEXTA, and Matt Dunn has done a good job with BAUKAW(SCRATCHED) and he is yet another who goes back and needs a stack of luck. If anyone can do find a way it would be Colless!

ARCTIC who was impossible to find went up in trip, raced on pace and got the cash last run. Repeat the dose here? Yeah will employ similar tactics and can be hard to catch around the coast.

**At the end of the day a lot of these will need a lot of luck from the gates and may start under the odds.

Value – 16-WALHAAN  $9

Hardest To Beat:  4- HI SON,  7-ARCTIC,

Race 7:

Every chance of ‘field’ in quaddie!

Really weird race to get a guide on, many are jumping in grade and just trying their hand at Listed level. Funny thing is that it has fallen in place for them. There are a couple of good horses, an 11yr old with a chance and a few out of form….

I simply think if MORNING CAPTAIN ($3.80) is going to win a race it has to be this, surely? Yes he has the weight, yes he goes around as often as a greyhound but he is just better than them, isn’t he? Gate 1 means he box seats here and gets a drag into it.

KING KOBIA ($3.80) has to be the main danger but again I am sure his goal is next week as he has a good record on the back-up and should go around next week. He has been racing consistent in good enough races and that’s more than enough here!

The only horse I can see sharp improvement from would be MISHANI WARRIOR, but even he may need one more run. I think it is a great opportunity for them to ride him cold from the bad gate but I’m sure that won’t happen.

SIGNIFIED going well but simply isn’t one I can catch!

Outside of them you can make a case for every runner in a race like this but sticking with those above.

On Top:  2- MORNING CAPTAIN   $3.80

Hardest To Beat:  8-KING COBIA

Race 8:

Wiggins hasn’t had much luck with JACQUETTA of late being caught 3 wide the entire trip its last two runs from gate 6 and 8. It has gate 9 here? Speed galore here so I’d expect them to spread out and if she gets luck and gets in as I expect she looks a good way to end the day.

SAN JOSE comes off good form races (Love Rocks and Little Brown Horse). Some felt Colless went early last run but I think it was the perfect ride, the horse was just not good enough. This is a great race on the right track but gee he is gonna have to burn to get close to the lead in this, may have to sit outside lead.

LUCKY SOUND can box seat and get every chance again.

On Top:  10- JACQUETTA  $4.20

Race 8 No.10 – JACQUETTA

*Haven’t got a ‘longshot’ this week, but WALHAAN worth some thought close to $10
