Race 1:

Interesting race to kick off.

NICKY NOCKY and SIMPLY SMART lead with 5,8,11 all looking to be forward somewhere as well.

With the decent speed up front I feel ROCK ACADAMEY gets his chance around the $8 mark. Will be better for recent racing and the key for me is getting to the bigger track with some speed on.

BYMONASHEE the hardest to beat, he is competitive every time he gets a race like this. Slight concern he has not placed in 6 runs at the track but has run well here before.

STAR SAMMY meets ROCK ACADAMEY better at the weights for beating him last start so must be respected.

*Not going over the top but ROCK ACADEMY for an interest

On Top:  10- ROCK ACADEMY

Hardest to beat:   3- BYMONASHEE

Race 2:

Same old story here? AGITATE runs them along, strings them out and PALMERA LAD, ARCHITECT and SPLENDORA all probably get last shot at him??

*I just bring myself to bet in this race. Can find too many reasons for the favs to be beaten and not enough reasons for the roughies to be able to win so I will stay out!

Race 3:

Really liked the way LIMEHILLS attacked the line in the Hampden. Not real keen on the $2.60.. The 1400m at EF is spot on and he is on the way up. You would love them to sit closer in the run and put him in the race.

The x-factor may be Gai with BAYROCK. She is a well-bred filly who will be up on pace with a tempo to suit up to the 1400m and further improvement from the 2nd up run sees her extremely competitive.

HOMEHILL was solid at the GC and really good running through the line which is a great sign.

**Think LIMEHILLS is the horse to beat.. The only issue for me is the speedmap that I feel will suit BAYROCK far more.

On Top:  8- BAYROCK

Hardest To Beat:   2- LIMEHILLS

Race 4:

Really good punting affair.

$6.50 looks a fair deal ESCOFFIER. The horse goes super for Goold, the win at the coast was tough and he is a horse that holds form. There is no reason he won’t improve off that run, sit in the first 4 and be very hard to run down.

SPURS AND SASHES is going super for the Edmonds camp, going for four straight wins and was very impressive at the GC last time out.

PRIMED TO WIN gets a 2kg pull in the weights off ESCOFFIER on their last outing.

AFTER BARON going really well at present and ready to run a race in town around the $8 mark.

BELIEVE’N’RECEIVE has drawn another shocking gate and has had little luck of late, he is the best roughie around the $17 mark.

*Handy event and happy to think ESCOFFIER gives you a great sight.

On Top:   3- ESCOFFIER  $6.50

Roughie:  14- BELIEVE’N’RECIEVE

Race 5:

A really good edition of the Healy stakes.

Most of these come through the Lightning and meet again. I think that will be a decent form race but happy to think the QTC cup may be a better form race and that BENETTA is hard to beat here. Sacred Star who won that race was then the run of the race in the G1 Stradbroke and Masthead has since been beaten a lip in an eye-liner. BENETTA was very good in that race, gets the blinkers back on here and the speed up front should play into her hands.

CAPE KIDNAPPERS and BIG MONEY ran the quinella in the Lightning and are the other main players, extremely hard to split them and I do feel the 1200m sees CAPE KIDNAPPERS right out….

On Top:   7- BENNETTA

Hardest To Beat:   10- BIG MONEY,  2- CAPE KIDNAPPERS

Matt Dunn Racing

Race 6:

Although she has never been one of my horses PRETTY PINS is really well placed. No doubt the drop back to 2200m is in her favour and even last start she didn’t really get clear till late, I thought the effort was more than acceptable. $4.80 doesn’t excite me and thought we’d get a better price but she does look the one to beat.

TINTO- Oaks winner, that’s more than enough to trouble these.

Moody brings WISH COME TRUE who is a last start winner when very strong through the line. Lightly raced and hard to guess how good at this stage.

No doubt the value runner for trifecta’s is GARUD at $11 on the back-up from the Ipswich Cup, the run there was good and suited around EF. MILITARY MOVE got a nice run in the Toowoomba Cup and got the job done.

On Top:   4- PRETTY PINS

Hardest To Beat:   2- WISH COME TRUE,  5- GARUD,  3- TINTO

Race 7:

Have been following COSMIC ENDEAVOUR and had been guilty of under selling her. The win in the Dane Ripper was nothing short of outstanding, one of the wins of the carnival for mine. Can she reproduce it? I am prepared to say yes. She is going places, drops 2.5kg off that run and Berry gets a super run from gate 5.

Nothing but respect for the top few, RED TRACER is the best horse in the race and was super this race last year. DRIEFONTEIN drops nicely in weight while and STEPS IN TIME runs them along and proves really hard to run down.

CATKINS is a bomb fresh and fillies COSTA VIVA and JAZZ SONG are well above avg and in form, they are the value runners in exotics.

*High quality fillies and mares but COSMIC ENDEAVOUR looks the real deal.

On Top:  14- COSMIC ENDEAVOUR

Next Best:  1- RED TRACER,  15- COSTA VIVA,  4- CATKINS

Race 8:

Tipping Cosmic Endeavour in the G1 so obviously have BELLE DE COEUR right in the mix in this easier assignment. Very good training ploy and should run well.

TRANSPORTER has really improved his last couple and every chance he peaks here. Drops 0.5kg from that win and gets a decent run up on pace.

QUEENSTOWN 2nd up last prep ran 2nd to Sharnee Rose in a G3 and that’s a good pointer here. Good enough fresh and does have a bit of class on a most of these. Won or placed in 12 of 14….

QUEEN’S ELECT and FIRE UP FIFI some hope for those going wider in exotics.

*Thinking the two below can dictate the pace to a certain degree.

On Top:   3- TRANSPORTER    +   6- QUEENSTOWN
