Pitman happy with Milo

One of my favourite trainers to catch up with is the astute Kiwi trainer Michael Pitman. He is a premier winning trainer and again this season has 101 winners to his credit. I don’t care where you are in the world, that is a record every trainer would be envious of! On top of that he is a very nice bloke who enjoys a laugh, and even told me that I put the mocker on his horses after we last spoke!

I am really intrigued as to his thoughts on his runners this weekend, particularly MILO, and these are some of his thoughts. “He took some time to acclimatise, and I backed him up to get him used to going clockwise direction. We decided to pull our head in and wait to run him over a bit more ground, and that’s this week and we get the visitors draw!” Pitman said.

After getting that bad gate the horse will go back as Michael said that’s the way he likes to run anyway. A few other things are that the horse’s blood count is spot on and he is very happy with how his work has been. That’s enough for me to think he can be an improver this week. If this stable has such a high opinion of him, that should be respected.

Pitman is also pretty pleased with EL CHICO. “He has run on every start, and has just had little luck in his races. We just hope they go hard in front and he can get home hard.”

There are a couple of runners going around at the Gold Coast, CONSCIOUS MISTAKE and MYSTIC MINT which Michael thinks is probably the best chance of the two.

Best of luck to Michael and his team on the weekend, and let’s hope they get a fair run as they deserve a change of luck.
