ANOTHER QUEENSLAND BLITZ
MORE THAN HALF THE CARD TO QLD
On the back of Queensland’s sensational Spring Carnival and our winning form is continuing in our backyard.
Queensland bred gallopers won five of the eight events at Doomben on Saturday.
Craiglea Stud sire, Top Echelon had a winning double with Lady Echelon taking out the Travel Associates Hcp (1200m) in fine style. Just two events later and Jim Byrne rode 4 year old Top Rada, by Top Echelon, to victory in the IPG Print Handicap (1350m).
Lyndhurst Stud is also celebrating a winning double with Celestial Dragon taking out the $85,000 QTIS 2yo for their sire Hidden Dragon before Sequalo’s 4 year old gelding, The Black Superman saluted in the 1200m Carlton Mid Country Cup.
Eureka Stud sire, Red Dazzler, also had a big winning day with Rudy (pictured Dan Costello Racing) taking out the $85,000 QTIS 3yo Handicap, collecting a handy $56,500 thanks to the QTIS bonus.
ANOTHER INTERNATIONAL WIN FOR LYNDHURST
For the third consecutive week, Lyndhurst Stud is celebrating another International victory.
Their Champion Sire, Sequalo (pictured) produced another winner in Macau on Saturday.
Power Sequalo won the Chief Singer Rating 55 over 1050m on the Malaysian sand track on Saturday night.
The four year old gelding has plenty of connections on the Darling Downs, he was bred by Dalby based Lee Lord, out of her mare Laffy before being purchased by Mr and Mrs Tang Hing Keung and heading to Malaysia.
It’s been a sensational three weeks for Lyndhurst Stud both across Australia and overseas.
Three weeks ago, Sequalo recorded a winner in Singapore with Hidden Dragon claiming a victory and a third placegetter at Singapore and Malaysia respectively last week.
QTIS OWNERS DANCE AWAY WITH THE CASH
The big dollars went off in the two $85,000 QTIS feature races at Doomben on Saturday.
Celestial Dancer (pictured, Dan Costello Racing) raced away with $56,500 in the QTIS 2yo Handicap thanks to the $24,500 QTIS bonus. Eljetem’s second place prizemoney was boosted by $7,000 in QTIS cash to $17,000 and Sagatona collected $8,500 thanks to $3,500 in QTIS bonuses.
In the $85,000 QTIS 3yo Hcp, Rudy saluted and collected $56,500 on his way past the post.
Races at Townsville, Rockhampton, Ipswich and the Gold Coast were all boosted to $22,000 thanks to a $12,000 QTIS bonus. That’s more than doubled the first three placegetters prizemoney, from $6,500 to $15,00 for first, from $2,000 to $4,300 for second and from $1,000 to $2,200 for third.
At Nanango, Cairns and Pentland the QTIS races increased from $6,000 to $11,000 thanks to the QTIS bonuses, with Log Cabin, Storm Crazy and Penthouse Poppy reaping the rewards and collecting $7,500 first place prizemoney.
There were a total of twelve QTIS races across Queensland this week, offering $167,000 in prizemoney.
THANKS STEVE
A special thank you to TBQA committee member and Glenlogan Park Stud Manager Steve Morley.
Steve recently took three days out of his busy schedule to take leading Australian trainer, Gai Waterhouse on a tour of selected South East Queensland Studs.
Gai likes to inspect yearlings that will be presented in the January Magic Millions Sale on the Gold Coast while they are ‘in the paddock’.
Steve has organised Gai’s tours here for the past seven years. It is a tremendous boost to the Queensland breeding industry and would never happen without Steve’s foresight and commitment.
Thanks Steve, everyone who is asked to take part really appreciates this valuable opportunity that you present to them.
WE RUN AS ONE
Racing Queensland has uploaded the first of the “Hear From RQ” videos to the We Run As One website.
Initially the concept was to “Hear from Kevin,” however that was revised and altered to “RQ” so that in the future, we can hear from any of the RQ executive team if they are best suited to answer the questions submitted to the Suggestion Box.
For the first installment, RQ CEO Darren Condon (pictured) sat down for a chat about the WRAO campaign, the much-talked about TattsBet court decision and Product Fee Agreement and the status of the three codes of racing.
