The big dollars went off in the two $85,000 QTIS feature races at Doomben on Saturday.
Celestial Dancer (pictured, Dan Costello Racing) raced away with $56,500 in the QTIS 2yo Handicap thanks to the $24,500 QTIS bonus. Eljetem’s second place prizemoney was boosted by $7,000 in QTIS cash to $17,000 and Sagatona collected $8,500 thanks to $3,500 in QTIS bonuses.
In the $85,000 QTIS 3yo Hcp, Rudy saluted and collected $56,500 on his way past the post.
Races at Townsville, Rockhampton, Ipswich and the Gold Coast were all boosted to $22,000 thanks to a $12,000 QTIS bonus. That’s more than doubled the first three placegetters prizemoney, from $6,500 to $15,00 for first, from $2,000 to $4,300 for second and from $1,000 to $2,200 for third.
At Nanango, Cairns and Pentland the QTIS races increased from $6,000 to $11,000 thanks to the QTIS bonuses, with Log Cabin, Storm Crazy and Penthouse Poppy reaping the rewards and collecting $7,500 first place prizemoney.
There were a total of twelve QTIS races across Queensland this week, offering $167,000 in prizemoney.
