Queenslander’s head south!

Three time premiership trainer Rob Heathcote has decided to send stable stars Buffering and Woorim straight to Melbourne to kick off their Spring carnival assaults.

At first glance it looked as though Woorim’s plans were up in the air after the meeting was abandoned on the weekend, but Rob told 4Tab’s (1008am) Steve Hewlett that he is more than happy to race Woorim first up at Moonee Valley on the 10th of September in a handicap. From there he will go into his main goal the Sir Rupert Clarke 1400m at Caulfield, and it is worth noting that he was second up when he ran incredible sectionals to win the BTC sprint during the Brisbane carnival. There would then be a run or two lead up to the Emirates 1600m at Flemington on the last day of the carnival.

Buffering will run the same day, but will contest the Group 3 McEwen 1000m race, and next start should be in the Manikato 1200m at the same track on the 30th on September.

Both horses galloped together this morning and pleased Heathcote. Damian Browne will ride both horses on the 10th of September and it is interesting that Rob put blinkers on Buffering (who by all reports worked very well) and will probably wear the shades in his first up assignment.

**For anyone who didn’t catch the news it has been reported that there will be no Japanese horses coming to the carnival.

**This weekend will see another lot of group 1 performers kick off their spring campaigns. Sincero will race in the Tramway in Sydney, while team Hawkes are apparently leaning to Maluckday staying in Sydney for his first up run, but they will decide tomorrow.

**Caulfield cup weights will be released this afternoon and Americain is expected to be given the topweight of around 58-59kg. He is unlikely to run in that race, but his Melbourne cup weight would most likely be the same.

**As most members know I am not overly keen on the midweek when it comes to punting, but I know people are always looking for a steer into some winners. There are two that I’m interested in but fear both will be very short!

Brisbane Race 2 No 2 BRIBIE

Brisbane Race 6 No 4 RISK AVERSION (Worth noting currently $2.60 on TattsBet and is one of our Blackbook horses) I think that’s a good price.
