Quick Wrap Up

It was a very good meeting at Eagle farm and I think the form from the day (in most parts) will stand up very well.

It was a good day for ‘The Punt’ followers with a few nice priced winners saluting. It is impossible to do each week but we will take them when we get them!

I just wanted to start on one of those selections ROCK HOME LATE. $9 was offer in early markets and as he often does Brad Herne found the perfect race for one of his horses. He simply led them at his own pace while the ‘fav’s’ were at the back and never a chance of catching him. I am sure a few guys who speedmap also came up with him as he only paid $5 on the day.

As usual the 3 year old race was a cracker. We have been saying for a week or so that the Tukiyo form race is the hottest race in Brisbane at the moment. SOOKIE simply franked it yet again with a huge win coming the widest and unleashing a terrific sprint late. That simply shows she is versatile and she does have a very bright future. VIS A TERGO for M.Dunn was also enormous and it will get a mention in the ‘blackbook’ article later in the week!

I thought VINTAGE MOSS may well have been a risk on Saturday (I was very keen LUCKY SOUND though and it was scratched). It was a surprise to me to just see how dominant VINTAGE MOSS was after not being in the best spot in running. The time of 1:09:79 was also impressive on the day and faster than Sookie went in the race before.

SHAFEEQ got the money for the supporters of the week’s best longshot. He is simply an underrated sprinter who was always going to be up the front and out of trouble while the even money favourite was going to have to hope for a bit of luck to get out chasing. BETTER THAN READY is definitely a superior horse than SHAFEEQ but represented absolutely no value at that quote from a wide gate over 1000m. They are the two you can follow with a lot of confidence.

Why couldn’t VIKING HEART get the job done in the last? No that is just talking through the kick. It was a good ride from Colless and it was a two horse battle the entire straight with TOKAMAK getting the better of VIKING HEART. TOKAMAK was well supported on the day and hopefully people may have had a saver or two in the race outside of what we had going in the quad. LONGSHOREMAN was simply outstanding again! He has come back a new horse and he was probably only two strides off winning.
