As expected there is plenty of news around the traps.

*DEAR DEMI will back-up this weekend in the Grand Prix (Which is looking like a cracking race!). Clarry Conners has stated a few times she is a great eater and he didn’t want a gap into the oaks run.

*Murray Baker told Steve Hewlett on RadioTab that AMBITIOUS CHAMPION is a raw horse with plenty of talent and sits around 20th in the Grand Prix at the moment. He is hoping for a run in the race, otherwise a midweek race may be on the cards as the Derby lead-up.

*Steve also talked to Joe Pride who is happy with RAIN AFFAIR and he believes the 1350m is about the horse’s best trip. Pride felt the wet track would play into RAIN AFFAIR’s hands last start but the horrible Eagle Farm track was falling apart and the horse may not have coped as well as expected.

*Kelly Schweida has BETTER THAN READY nominated in a couple of races but is hoping on getting into the Doomben 10,000. He is happy with the horse and would expect him to be around the money if he is to be competitive in a race like the Stradbroke.

*The Group 2 Sires’ Produce 1350m for 2 year olds also looks very good with MISSY LONGSTOCKING to back-up and the likes of BOUND FOR EARTH. LONDAHERO, LE VAL, VILLANOVA and ZOUSTAR just to name a few expected to line up.

*SECRET ADMIRER has been retired after her great run when 3rd in the Doomben Cup on Saturday. She fell just shy of the $1.5 million mark in earnings.

*RELIABLE MAN needs a 3 month break and his racing future is in the air at the moment. He may target the Autumn next year or head to a stud farm to begin a new career.

*Rain is predicted in Brisbane on Wednesday (some reports of possibly 20ml) but fine weather is expected after that. If that is the case we should still get a dead track on Saturday so let’s hope it isn’t any more than they predict.
