Racing news and Heathcote update

Just a few racing stories people may want to catch up on.

Steve Hewlett from RadioTab’s raceday program caught up with Rob Heathcote this morning which I was going to do, so he saved me a phone call. Rob outlined a few plans for his stable stars.

*SOLZHENITSYN is coming along very well and will head to Sydney on the 14th of September for the 1400m Theo Marks as his 1st up assignment.Rob Heathcote

*FIRE UP FIFI will be his travelling partner and should race the same day. (Rob didn’t mention the race but I’d assume it’s the Sheraco, 1200m for fillies and mares, set weights and penalties)

*He couldn’t be happier with BUFFERING who will head to Melbourne for the Moir on the 27th September. No doubt all racing lovers, not just Queenslanders want him to get that Group 1 he deserves!

*Heathcote also has ST ANDREWS in Wednesday and does have a very good opinion of the horse and he does feel his best is on top of the ground.

In other news the Hawkes camp have retired grand old stayer NIWOT. He has done his job and finished with over $1.2 million in prizemoney.

PUISSANCE DE LUNE will kick off his campaign on the 17th of August in the PB Lawrence over 1400m.

SHAMEXPRESS is heading home from England with some Spring sprints in mind. No doubt he was disappointing over there but let’s hope he finds form when he gets home. Plenty of horses have gone to the UK and failed so I wouldn’t write him off just yet.

*More news and Blackbookers still to come this week so check in again before the big preview Friday.
