We’ve said it before and we can say it again. Thank god for racing.
To be honest we have had a pretty ordinary run of meetings. With the rail 10m at the sunny coast last week that track was disgraceful. And with the rail out there at Doomben it was a similar story, it’s just horrible racing. To be honest you’d be better racing at Beaudesert or Kilcoy than racing with rail 10m+
Then on the weekend we still had the split region schedule so we had about 30+ scratchings at each of four meetings over a few days.
The good news is we get back to a bit of normal this week and it starts with trials today at Doomben. One thing to take out of them is that O’DEA and SCHWEIDA look to have some firepower coming back and I’ll predict them to have a big JUNE.
Here are some to follow from the trials.
CHICO MILAGRO– Always shown a bit and can be placed to win a couple this prep.
BOOMTOWN LASS– Back for a two run prep. You’d expect her to be winning trials, she has good speed and only did what expected. Just very excited to get her to Doomben.
MISTRESS OF DOOM- Liked this is the 2yr trial. Good speed, traveled and let down good.
PLUTOCRAT- Runner up was good too but liked this trial and feel PLUTOCRAT will be effective at EF if they get there.
GOLDSCHLAGER- Nice trial under very little pressure. Similar story with HE KNOWS in the same trial. Both can run well when they debut.
JAMI LADY- Exactly what you’d have wanted to see. Made ground with Thornton just sitting quiet. She’s a good mare who looks to have returned well.
APOLLO PRINCE- First time out for the new stable and looks like one that will go through the grades quickly up here.
PARANGAS- Improving type. Has plenty of ability and should be a bigger, stronger horse this time in work.
